I absoluetely hate the Fiat configurator for the 500!!!

What's the point if you can't add all the accessories you are interested in? And everything is just a name and a price... nothing has any details.

This is going to be the biggest purchase of my life so far and it seems they want me to do it blindfolded!

Items I am currently interested in, but can't see on their stupid site included:

Steel kick plates
Italian badges for the front wing
Badges for the side rubbings
Leather gear knob
Carpet mats
Headrests
Mudflaps

I know I can see them in the accessories sections, but those pictures are static, difficult to compare and NOT OF MY CAR!

How do they expect people to choose what they think looks best if they can't see it?

And, the information they provide can be both wrong or non-existent! The configurator doesn't allow the interscope system on the Start&Stop edition even though it's available in the brochure. And even if you do add it, for £250 the only information you get is the name! Then there's the powered sunroof option, which I can add for £550, but they completely fail to mention the loss of head height!

I am completely dumb founded by the whole thing. And it makes me so furious, because I can't not get this car! :p

think of it as an aptitude test to see if you qualify for 500 ownership ;)

But I don't like tests :( Especially ones which don't have answers!

I mean, the Start&Stop has body coloured wing mirrors as standard, but instead it just shows black ones! That's just dumb.

I really wanna be able to see my car... Maybe I can CGI it myself :S

Its not a Fiat thing, its the industry norm - sunroofs take headroom away, as does the fixed roof of the lounge and ByDiesel models. Accessories are never on any company configurator - they are generally dealer fit or DIY fit and not part of factory builds which is what the configurator is designed to do, give you detail of what to spec the build to.

Sorry, but i don;t think most people need a graphic 3D image of their car with mudflaps to see what they look like.

Try using the european (English version) 500 Video configurator.

You can add all the accessories, like the Italian badges, even the air freshner to the interior.

Do a google search or alternatively I think the Irish site also has a video config.

Have you been for a test drive yet? If not, when you visit the dealership, pop along to parts and accessories, they should be able to show the mats etc.

I will definately have a look around when I'm at the dealership tomorrow. And yes, other ones aren't great either... but I'm not interested in other cars :p

Have you tried any other manufacturers configurators tho? If they even have them? Most of them are chronic.

Eh? what manufacturers sites have you been on? Fiats has to be the worst out there at the moment. The fact you have to go to the Italian site to configure the A500 is a joke and the Abarth UK site is pathetic to say the least.

Fiat one is good compared to the mini site - mum & I gave up on tuesday night looking at it. You can't find the colours or the models that are in the brochure. (and yes, sorry she is thinking of getting another mini - although I did show her the 500c and she looked 'quite' interested although she wants FW and I've said no!).

That's the Abarth site. The Fiat one is excellent. The only site that comes close to the Fiat one is the Alfa site. Have you ever looked at any other car maker sites? They're rubbish compared to the Fiat one

I find the Fiat site very user friendly. It's so logical. (And if I say that, it must be!) :) Can't say that for some of the other manufacturers' though. They really test your computer literacy skills sometimes!

Oh the horror. However did people buy cars before the Internet flash configurator existed?!?!?!?!?!

Look at the accessories. If in doubt go to a dealer.

Sorry if that sounds flippant but seriously, grow up.

The problem with a lot of sites is that they're too linear.

Go to the Audi site and it works like zis.

*say in a loud angry Allo Allo style German accent for best effect*

Vot model vould you like?
Vot number of doors?
Vould you like ze qvattro system?
Vot engine?
Vot colour?
Vot veelz?
Vot upholstery?
Vot accessories vould you like to add into ze car in ze confusing manner ve have arranged zem in?

And so on and so forth

*stop speaking like a moron now btw*

With the Fiat configurator you can choose your wheels, colour, accessories and so on in any order and you get a fairly accurate graphical representation of your changes.
