hello
I'm going for a test drive on Saturday and am sorely tempted by the 1.3 16v multijet. I was thinking of getting leather seats -especially after viewing some of the pics on the forum but as I have a nearly two year old son, I was wondering if there's anyone out there that uses a carseat with leather upholstery and whether there's been any damage (to the leather seats as opposed to the car seat!). If this is the case I'll go for the cloth option. Any input would be gratefully received.
many thanks
DG

I've had a few cars with leather including my current Smart. I have an old sheet folded up and placed under the child seat. Will still have a small indentation left, but least it stops the seat marking the leather.

I am still waiting for my 500c :bang: but it has been ordered with leather seats and I have two children. My current car has cloth and it is a nightmare to clean up. The car before that had leather and it was a dream to wipe clean! Kids are messy creatures and I have vowed not to go down the cloth route again. Like the other poster, I put a towel or something under the seat to prevent massive indentation marks. When we sold the car after 3 years the marks disappeared after a couple of days and looked fine.

Great -thanks for your replies. I'll see what anyone else has to say but it looks like leather is the way to go.
Cheers all

I have a white towel on mine with a halfords cheap-o seat on it permanently. Seems OK thus far.

I'd budget for a new child seat though as there isn't a great deal of height on the rear belts - maybe an ISO-fix seat might be the way to go.

I have noticed a few indents in the leather but i have moved the seat to the other side (it's a high back booster) and the marks on the original side have started to go, so i guess that the leather will go back to normal afterwards. I'm not overly concerned with it yet, but may look at those seat protectors .... however some of the indentations are up the back from the hi back part so may not work.

I had a car seat on a cloth seat for 2.5 years prior to getting this car and it left indentations on the cloth seats too though!!!

EDIT : have just ordered one of those sunshine kids seat protector. Thanks!

There are many car seats available in the market for the kids. These baby car seats come in different fabrics and qualities. The leather seats will be real good stuff in the cars for the kids as it is easy to clean the the seats and we can even use the car seat covers for the kids car seats.
