Hi everyone. I wondered if anyone was aware of any changes imminent to the colours currently available on the Fiat 500. I know that the original colours have been discontinued and replaced by (what seems like) a number of greys. Are there any signals that better colours may be available in the future.
Many thanks - great forum btw :)

Hi,
I email Fiat directly, as I was hoping that they'd bring some new colours out but I was told that there was nothing in the pipeline. I'm hoping they didn't say that just so I'd get my order in ASAP :) but I don't think that's the case.

Sorry it that wasn't what you wanted to hear...
BTW the Electroclash grey looks nice in the sunshine (when we have it!)

Which is odd, as Rock 'n' Roll Blue has just been added as a second 'free' colour alongside Bossa Nova White.

Non-metallic dark blue is hardly an exciting addition though :(

How rude: Maybe they don't tell the call centre team much either! (although I wouldn't have gone for dark blue) its not showing on the config tool, do you have insider info? :)

...do you have insider info? :)

I work for a Fiat dealer group.

Fiat haven't announced R 'n' R Blue as a new colour to us either, I noticed it was available to order a few days ago when I was ordering some stock for September so I ordered a couple.

It will most likely look dreadful, but there are always people that object to paying extra for metallic paint so we will undoubtedly sell a few.

What on earth made them get rid of the cool colours? I saw that lovely browny-grey colour at the showroom yesterday, so classy!

What about that dark Goth metal blue the 500c is supposed to come with? I guessed it is metallic, which with the right chrome accents (mirrors) and the ivory roof and either tan or red leather :yum:, would look fabulous.

But a flat dark blue with no reflective power is not what's needed.

And yes, where have all the interesting shades gone Fiat?

No, it's another one of those colours that Fiat laughingly refer to as 'Special'. You know, the ones that are non-metallic but they still charge £250 extra.

Goth-Metal Blue, Tech House Grey and Ragamuffin Red are unique to the 500C.

Hooray, another shade of blue. Soon the 500 will only be available in greyscale or shades of blue.

What exactly is the difference in the paints? I was told by a salesman that the 'special' flat colours (red in this case) are very expensive to make and don't have the fading properties (red again) of the standard flats. I am aware that the Goth is only available on the as yet unavailable 500c, but that deep dark shiny (as I'd hoped) blue, and the ragamuffin red - another expensive non-metallic I'll guess, are the only colours besides white I really think I lke.

Where have all the colours gone...

I have no idea.

Could be, although that does sound a bit like 'Salesman Speak' to me :p

That one is £700, like Funk White, so I guess it's a similar type of paint.

£700! Aaaaahhhhh!

Back to white then :(

Just noticed a few more changes on the Fiat ordering system...

Breakbeat Grey has been replaced by Minimal Grey (silver is pretty much silver as far as I can tell, so won't be a great deal of difference there) Crossover Black has been replaced with Carbonio Black (again, black is pretty much black as far as I can tell) and two new colours have been added.

At the moment they are just called 'Dark Grey' (a bit odd when Electroclash is already available) and 'Plum'. No indication of whether they are Pastel, Special, Metallic or Pearlescent yet.

As soon as I know any more I'll let you know...

Thanks, Scrogg! ... interesting. Have you seen a picture of what the 'Plum' colour looks like, and also - any idea when available to view on the online configurator on the Fiat website?

Those people at Fiat (on their online chat thing) aren't very helpful! I asked them about said new colours (above) and they said they didn't know anything about it! They never seem to know anything about anything which is a shame considering they are an immdiate help link. Immediate rubbish link. :bang:

Last time I "chatted" with one of them was just as the car was approaching it's first birthday. I asked if there was a deal going between the AA and Fiat to extend the standard cover for a second year.

I was told that there wasn't and that I would need to contact the AA directly. I did so and they also said that there was no reciprocal agreement between them and Fiat and they would be happy to charge me £135.00 ish (not including the European cover) for my custom.

The very next day, after taking out cover (via my insurance company) I received a letter from the AA stating that as my cover was due to expire would I like to renew (including Home Start, Roadside Assistance, Relay, Relay Plus, European Assistance and Accident Management for ........... £79.00 for one year or £139.00 for two years. :bang:

Just to give the other side of this story. I work for a large credit card company and if you asked me what the benefits of all the cards were I'd have to throw my hands up and say no. It's difficult for someone in a customer service role to know everything there is to know. That's not to say that this is an excuse for not asking but just wanting to show the flipside of the coin :)
