My 500 has no side rubbing strips, but I'm getting a bit paranoid that someone's eventually going to put a nasty carpark ding into it. I've been considering getting some strips to fit, but the Fiat ones seem too small and poorly positioned to work effectively. Judging by the pics, I reckon they could be too slim to save the top half of the door from getting knocked.
Is this right?

Yes, I'm afraid so! However there are certain circumstances when they can be effective so still a good idea, especially if you like the look of them from a styling point of view.

Just after I got mine the wife got the obligatory "Tesco" dent right in the centre of the driver's door, about 12" above the strip. However, they have been useful at other times and I like the looks so I will specify them again on my next 500.

they didnt stop my door getting dented by another car door but i do think the car looks bare without them.

I've been looking around the car park in work, and it seems likely that the strips from lots of small 2 door cars may work. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more substantial strips which will do the job I think, rather than use the fiat ones

I quite like the simplicity of the lines without the strips, but if I get mine am in two minds about having them, as would give a bit of protection I guess

the side strips are they an option on the abarth? or is that a silly question?
