Hi, this my first post. A fortnight ago I ordered my 500: 1.2 Sport in Bossa Nova White,
16" Multispokes
Climate control
ESP
Parking sensors
Side mouldings/500 logo
50/50 split rear seat/head restraints
I have already bought the boot organiser, multi hook, loadspace lamp and a set of carpet mats. I live in Devon & have ordered my car from Vospers in Plymouth, taking advantage of the scrappage scheme. I was given a delivery date of mid August, so I'm waiting 'till September.
I also own a Smart Fortwo, which is my 2nd one in 6 years. I love them to bits, as you all seem to with your 500's.
My first car in 1973, was an eleven months old 1972 L Reg Fiat 500L in white, in which I drove 12000 miles in 12 months. I'm really looking forward to my new 500, 35 years on!

Mollie...fortunately you've seen the light.......:p

Its great that you soon will be a former owner of a car......which I at times regarded as being "not-so-smart"..............

Good luck for September!!!!

They were brilliant when they first came out - nothing like them and ahead of their time. I fIrst saw Smart cars in Nantes on our honeymoon 10 yeas ago - there was a glass tower with six of them on top of each other - and I thought they were great. But the 500 is so much more of a car, and so much prettier too!

Hey,I got my 500 from vospers in plymouth, great dealership, very friendly and focussed on good custmomer service.

I,m not selling the Smart-no way. The 500 is an extra. I dealt with Dan at Vospers, who was great, but I've yet to be convinced about the company.

Congrats on your purchase, sounds like you are already all kitted up!

Nuova500 on here also has a Smart now, I'm sure he will be along soon! Hopefully he wont feel quite so isolated now! Maybe you could start a "Fiats with Smarts" social group? :D

Hi, I have the new smart fortwo, I got it as my 500 was driven into twice:( However, I am absolutely loving it and also the great customer service Ive had with my local Mercedes dealer:) Id have another smart for sure, its just put the fun back into my daily commute.

Notts, Im not so isolated now as I attended my first smart event last weekend, it was fantastic and very friendly, just like here.

I too have owned two Smarts. First was a 2002 Pulse and the 2nd was a 2007, 57 plate second generation fortwo pure.

I still really like the Smart and the second generation (from sept 2007 onwards) is 1,000,000 times better, in every way.

I sold mine because I just couldn't live with the constant stone chips all over the 'durable' plastic panels. Ironic that I've owned the 500 since September 2008 and not a single chip. (y)

I have been looking at the Smart CDi Cabrio though! :bang::eek:

Ive done 3000 miles in my smart and just a couple of chips on the bumper, but mine has the impregnated colour... was yours metallic?

No, and to be honest I think that was part of the problem. It was black, so pressed panels simply sprayed in lacquer.

My first Smart was in Ruby Red Metallic, was absolutely stunning, as you can see :D, but also suffered from chippings!

It must be where I live. The roads aren't great

Great news re the smart meet Nuova! Remember you'll always be one of us tho! :D

...you've impregnated your Smart? Well I love my 500 but I don't think I'd go THAT far...

Citroen C4P has a smart-style gearbox which is described in the Citroen build docs as "Gearbox type: MCC" - not sure if that's a reference to the Smart or not really.

Glad I've created a little gathering on Smarts here. My first was a 1999 S Reg which I bought in 2003 as a write-off.Very easy repair, had panels sprayed. No problems with stone chips in 9000 miles. My current Smart is 2003 03 Reg in black, now done 28000 miles. Again no chips in the panels.
