Hi all,
Just signed up as I'm going into the local dealers tonight to order a diesel 500.
We have settled on a 1.3 diesel pop with most of the options to make it similar to the lounge but liked the red/cream seats only available in the pop.
Will be including Air Con, fixed glass roof, Blue&Me, 16inch alloys etc.

This is part of a scrappage deal, and I know that the list price is unmovable for these beauties, but is there any point in trying to negotiate on the options?
Was told by the dealer that the finance options available are different on scrappage deals and not competitive which is a shame.

Just looking for any feedback on whats good, bad and ugly on the options front. Is ESP worth it? Climate control a worthy upgrade from air con? Are the seats from the pop not as good as the lounge? They certainly look better!

I'll be using this car for motorway rush hour driving daily. MPG was a big factor and the official figures look good as was the 18000 mile interval.
The test drive I did was very good and had a short opportunity to hit 65 and it seemed stable and quite. Any feedback on motorway driving in a 500 diesel?

Any comment/advice gratefully received. :worship:

bear in mind, if you buy a pop, it will only ever be worth pop money. Get the lounge and spec the read leather which, besides being leather, are much better seats.

Climate - it's okay, but not great. Actual cooling system is no different, it's just the automatic cabin temperature regulation.

Get the interscope though if you like your music.

Diesel on motorway is fine. Never a need to change down.

Also bear in mind there is a new diesel due September with a lot more power.

Thanks for the quick reply Pearce.
Did wonder about the pop + extras v's lounge. Will bear that in mind this afternoon. Maybe I'll consider the leather option on the lounge. Are they really that much better than the pop seats (red/cream)? Lose the underseat storage though.
Don't really want to get carried away as the list price for the lounge is 11'100. My spec'd pop is 11660. Would be quite easy to get carried away!

Is the only reason you're going for the pop the seats? Because looking in terms of pennies, I would be waying up whether those seats are reeeeeeally worth the extra 550 quid it costs to spec a pop up to lounge level.

I wouldn't worry about losing underseat storage either. I've never used mine - I tried getting to it once, thought I'd broke the seat and haven't touched it since. I'd much rather have had leather seats or interscope @_@

Here they are...

Yeah, I guess it was purely for the seats. Daft huh? Back to the configurator!
Comes out at 11980 (with bonnet stripe too). Hmmmm

Wow. They are nice :D
Getting towards 12k now though!
BTW, do you get an option on the dash colour or is it only available in the body colour? i.e. If I go for red leather, with the dash be red or white as the body colour?

Thanks again Pearce.
Does the 500 come with traction or is that only part of ESP pack?

I spec'd up a pop because I liked the seat too. It may not be the best way value for money wise but im not looking to sell it anytime soon. There is the chance if i crash it i may not get back the same as if i had spent the same amount of cash on a lounge.

I use my underseat storage all the time. I have the USB stick in there with a lead to the socket i also use if for all the stuff you dont want on display. The little pull out draw is great from coins for sainsburys and parking but not much else.

I love the diesel eps on the motorways so am a bit disapointed that an uprated version is comming out so soon.

The pop seats look nice but if there is more padding on the leather or lounge versions i would propably go for them as the POP seats arent the most comfortable on a long journey. Also the arm rest isnt great and if the other versions are more padded then they would be better too.

There isnt a right or wrong way of choosing what you want :D.

The seats are also different on the Sport am i correct?
Have you tried the Sport seats?

Yes. Did look at the sports, but prefer wheels on Lounge and no glass roof :bang:
Why can't they do a pick and mix type option. Can't understand why the pop seats cannot be selected in the lounge
Oh well. Thanks for all your help. Got to get home now to get down to the dealer!

I ordered a 1.2 Sport with a fixed glass roof :D
So im happy in that regard.

The leather seats are worth the money, the leather is good quality and you get the sports seats which are firmer and more supportive. Did a trip from Nottinghamshire to Bournemouth recently and had no aches or a stiff back when I arrived. At first I was going to go the up-specced pop route, just because I liked the pop red/ivory seats, but I'm glad that in the end I had the lounge and added different alloys and the leather seats. Personally tho if I were you and I went for the lounge, I wouldn't bother getting the chrome bonnet trim, as the lounge is dripping in chrome anyway. Also you get air con as standard so you don't have to shell out extra for the auto climate. Also on a styling note, I think the normal knobs on the air con model look a lot more retro than the climate buttons and lcd display, especially with ivory ambience. Mind you, if you get the sport, you get half leather sports seats and air con, so if you aren't bothered about the glass roof maybe this is the way to go.

Done it now! Went for the pop with the read/ivory seats.
Saw some leather seats in another model and wasn't really sold on them.
Thanks for all the advice. Now just the waiting game!
I guess as the car is yet to be built, it is possible to change the spec? Not that I'm going to, but just wondered if its possible and for how long (or which status code)?
