General Rear Drum Brake "Recall" Notice

Apologies if this is a repost. I've just had a letter from Fiat advising that my car needs to go in for a "check" to see if it is one of those affected by a faulty rear brake part that "in extreme circumstances" might lead to brake failure.

The letter arrived yesterday, I phoned up the local dealer and they're going to take a look this morning (in about 20 mins

).

I'm not sure if this is an official "recall" as it's not on the VOSA website but saying that, it did have the VOSA logo on the envelope.

Mine's an 09 1.2 Lounge btw.

but its nice to see that letters are going out to customers and yes i think its odd that its not an official recall.

I was just about to post the same thing.
Have a 'Sorry we missed you' card from the post office for a recorded delivery.

I was worry it was a speeding ticket, but thankfully it was a recall from Fiat.

had mine looked a couple months ago, be interesting to see if their records are accurate or will they send me a letter too!?

Depends who's asking, but had I recived the "Dear sir, we think you may have a problem with your brakes" letter before I may have been slightly more cautious.....

I'm hoping I get one now so they can take a look at the extending list of niggles. So far it's the B pillar and the heater fan, I'm just waiting for more bits to start bugging the hell out of me

Book it in for the other things anyway and they can do the recall if necessary, why wait?

Its actually a adjustment.

VOSA are still using typewriters thats why

New legislation......if you look carefully the logo is starting to fade (needs new ribbon

My letter was from VOSA/Fiat.
Took Valentino this morning, no problem with the bolts/break shoe, however my break valves (or something like that) were found to be leaking so been advised not to drive him

I've been given a lovely yellow 500 Sport to play with for the next few days

Thanks, I had a card from the Post Office to say they had tried to deliver a letter that needed to be signed for. I was fearing a speeding ticket and hoping for a premium bond win - funnily enough vehicle recall note didn't even figure in my thoughts!!

BTW my letter seems to be an official recall (rather than an advisory) with a number and everything.
