They're an absolute pig to clean! They really make a huge difference to the look of the car though in my opinion, and im so glad I chose them over the 15" ones. I'm sure I'll be regretting it when it comes to needing new tyres though :p

So tight fisted that our ancestors stole a loaf of bread to get a trip O/S. Good luck getting that deal nowdays :p

Yeah but the plan wasn't that you go on to develop into a thriving decent living country.
Were supposed to stay hot dusty and barren, bar deadly poisonous snakes and spiders so big they purposely hunt dogs.

Is that possibly one of the largest FAILs yet?

I mean, being transported to America, I can see how that is a punishment, but if people know then what we know now, bakers wouldnt have been able to keep up with demand :ROFLMAO:

Yeah that's another consideration, economy is as well because the tyres are just that bit wider. What sort of MPG figures do you get?

Rob, I had a puncture at 1000 miles and needed to get a new tyre. No-one seemed to keep the 16" Bridgestone Potenza in stock so I had to order it on line via the National Tyres website at a cost of £75.00 inc. Valve, Fitting and Balance.
Other places I tried were up to £20 more expensive so it certainly pays to shop around.

My Honda tyres were over £200 each.

What sort of mpg do you get with your 16's Grimwau? :)

I think the Abarth is excellent on fuel. I'm getting 34mpg, the same as my old 500 1.4 Sport. I'm extremely impressed with the Abarth (y)
It's not too bad, 34 MPG is still pretty poor by today's standards, especially considering it's a 1.4 (and when you can get a BMW diesel that does 0-60 in 6.5 secs and still does 60 MPG ;)) It's not so much the economy, it's probably the fact that I've been doing 450+ miles a week since i bought the car (it's a really addictive drive!)

That's not a bad price at all. I used to pay £60 for Pirelli P6000's on my Focus' 15" Wheels, and £90 for the 16" on my 206cc (which we dont speak of ;) ).

Thanks for the heads up.

Around town, I average about 45MPG. Motorways/DCs, about 50-60MPG.

I dont do many long journeys, but I'll be off to the IoW this weekend for the fun run, so should have some better figures after that.

Cheers. Those figures are certainly in the ballpark of what i was looking for :)

Don't be so bloody tight. The difference can only be 2-3 mpg at the most.

Oi! :p Well i chatted with the boss and she said it's OK to go for the 16's :p Just looked at price differences between the tyres and they seem OK too :) Wonder when the dealer opens so I can call him and annoy him with my first change of spec.

MPG is very driver/trip specific so this is just relative to my car, not the 500 1.3MJT per se.

Over the last 850 miles with the wife driving to work and back (5 miles each way), shopping, visiting her mum and generally poodling round town with the odd trip out to the country she has averaged about 48 mpg.

When I drive it I can generally improve on that figure and the computer will perhaps show 48.6 mpg but of course it takes a long time to boost the figure upwards if you have several hundred miles of history to update. lol.

If I reset to zero a mixture of 80% town and 20% country will give me close to 60MPG.

If I do a drive which is mainly countryside eg. Bournemouth to Weymouth and back and keeping to the speed limits then I have achieved 73MPG.

My big test will be next week when I travel to France and will be travelling at the maximum speed limits ie. 110KPH and 130KPH so as to get to my destination ASAP and I am hoping that I will get 60MPG with 3 people + luggage.

Tyre pressures are checked every 2 weeks and I run at 33psi front and 31psi rear in normal use. Obviously I have no relevant info as to whether there are any MPG differences for my tyres as opposed to the slightly narrower 15" variants but I would assume that the extra drag is negligible in the whole scheme of things.

Cheers for the info :) I found when I put 185's on my 406 to replace sme 175's that it did make a fair whack of difference because you've got the extra rolling resistance as well as more drag because of the wider tyres. I can deal with 2-3mpg though :)

They can call my 500 whatever they like, I dont care. I must admit, the 206cc was a bad idea though. Anyway, we dont speak of that ;)

I don't care either, I just ask them what car they drive, and when they start to say my dad's got a ford cosworth xr doodymeflop I say NO, what car do YOU drive and they all go quiet. Tho I suppose I do deserve a bit of a ribbing as I take the p*** out of them unmercifully the whole time. Only way to cope. And secretly, they think the 500 is cool. Plus, they all want an Abarth.
