I didn't do any of that stuff to my car :) It was like that when I got it.

The only things that happened when I had it were a blown head gasket which I sorted, replacement of some rather knackered glow plugs as well as doing the timing belt and water pump. Oh and I replaced a spring which broke while the thing was standing for about 6 months.

I should have seen that the thing was a bucket of crap from a mile away......
Oh and 500Maxi would sound silly ;)

For those who don't know what a 306maxi is......

Basically a rallying 306 with the engine that the 406 BTCC car used to use.

You say potato, I say potah-to... :ROFLMAO:

My dad had a 1750 Maxi ;)

I assume you mean the Austin one... coz thats what I thought the Maxi in 306maxi stood for!

Funnily enough, this is the same stonking orange colour as my Allegro... also the same chrome hubcaps. Probably where my love of the chrome laden 500 Lounge comes from! I lost one of the hubcaps once, and was lucky enough to find another in a stream whilst walking the dogs one day. By 'eck they don't write anecdotes like that anymore!

Yep, that's much the same as my dad's, although his was a dark purple. He loved it as it was one of the first large 5 door hatchbacks, and had a 5 speed gearbox. It died of rust and a blown headgasket
It also had this useful feature where you could tip all the seats down to turn it into one large bed! Why has this feature died out?????

Good news - the dealer phoned this morning - I can collect Saturday at 9am!
It seems he's still waiting for the proper confirmation from to release the cars, but as they've got a load of vehicles waiting to go out, and as they're fed up waiting too, they're going to release them regardless.
All I've got to do now is fit the set of scrapyard wheels to my omega. They're not having my irmscher alloys, they're worth more than the rest of the car!

Picked up my 500 yesterday - no problems at all, just lots of paperwork to sort.
Bit of a sad story from the dealer though - there was an elderly bloke due in later that afternoon, trading in his one owner, 40,000 mile 1982 cortina. It was immaculate, according to to dealer. You'd have thought the owner could have sold it for far more than 2 grand to the right person, but it seems that he only advertised it in local press. I'm sure there would have been plenty willing to bite his arm off in the various ford owners clubs.
