And its not bad, unfortunately its in Cha Cha Cha Blue so not exactly masculine to drive about in, and also exactly the same colour as my sisters one.
Its a lounge so nice spec but those alloys arent half difficult to clean!
I only got it because previous customers had not returned the actual cars so I had to use a Used car thats for sale. That means that for once I get a courtesy car with some spec, and after a blast down to Cheltenham this morning im still averaging 59.8mpg even including a fair bit of traffic which is superb, its done 5300 miles.
But the engine....Its a bit odd, it doesnt have all that much torque from idle like every other modern diesel ive driven and there is quite a bit of lag, it moves off, then sort of fumbles for a second and then its off at a fairly respectable rate actually, especially on the motorway it goes from 70 to 90 quite fast. But my god it makes a row, its so grumbly at idle and when you turn it off the whole car shakes like a paint mixer, its also loud the rest of the time too even at high speed you can hear it rumbling away. I like the way modern diesels drive but to be honest a diesel doesnt seem to suit the 500s character, especially as its not as smooth as I was hoping, despite its 16 valves etc. I cant help but thinking a slightly bigger capacity would have been sensible just for torque reasons, obviously though a remap would probably help performance no end.
Also the gearshift is very noisy for some reason and it just wont go into reverse without grinding a bit, no matter how smooth I try to be with it.
Nope its very nice but I think we will keep the 1.2 its just a happier driving experience IMO
