Hi,

We've been looking at buying a 500, and are coming around to the idea of buying a new one. The reason being that with the colours and options we want, it seems like a better idea (and somehow cheaper) to order a new Pop, with all the options we want from both the Sport or the Lounge specs.

We don't want all the options from the Sport and the Lounge (such as spoiler or glass roof), so it ends up about £9400 (£8100+options), compared to the £9500 for the Sport or the Lounge.

My questions are these...

1. Is there anything on a Sport or Lounge model that you can't order as an optional extra on a new Pop model? Or to put it another way, is it possible, using the standard options, to build a Sport or Lounge, starting with a Pop?

2. How long would we have to wait for delivery on a new upgraded Pop, nowadays? (in the UK)

3. We have an old car to part exchange. When the guy at the Fiat dealer valued it for us, he first asked "are you buying new or used", as if it made a difference to the value he put on our old car. Is this the case, and if so, would we get any more if we were buying new?

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi Jim, good choice on deciding on a 500! (y)
To answer this question, I believe there are a few little things you can't add onto the Pop, from the top of my head they are;
-Glossy black sections for doors (They're matte on every model but the lounge)
-Certain seat designs. Pops can't have the chequered fabric found in the Lounge.

I'm sure someone will let you know if there are any more but I can only think of 2!

seen a pop today (think it was ) no alloys, no sunroof, but it had blue/ivory check seats and ivory trim, mmmmm

You can get the Ivory ambience on the Pop, the seats would be the blue cloth option, I'd imagine. The blue chequered option looks a bit darker. Unless they managed to get hold of a Lounge interior for a transplant?

The sports seats are only in the sport, unless you opt for leather.

Also, from a future resale (and in the event of an insurance claim) perspective, the £9500 sport is a £9500 car. An £8100 Pop with £1300 of options is still an £8100 car.

One thing to consider is if, like me, you prefer the Pop upholstery to the other choices, obviouslt excluding leather, is that the 1.2 Stop Start model is based on a Lounge spec, but does without the glass roof and has the Pop interior, its also slightly cheaper than a Lounge if I recall, its the one I would have, the Blue and Red interior choices on the Pop are fab!

The part exchange price has very little to do with the value of your current car.

If you buy a new 500 the price will be less than if you buy a normal used car.

The way to get round the figures is to negotiate the best deal you can without a part exchange, then suddenly remember that you do actually have a car to trade in. They will then have to give you the actual value of your car, not the Trade in Value.

Cheers
