General Abarth 500 arriving soon!

Got a call from my Abarth dealer today, my car is only 2 WEEKS away now!!! I was quoted 12 weeks when I ordered it, its looking like its going take half that (y)

Bit of a dilemma at the mo, expecting mine to be delivered on Monday, but first the dealer needs an insurance cover note to tax the car. So i ring the 7 days free offer, "Sorry, cannot issue you with this offer because of your age" felt like telling her it was just to tax it! So then i ring Norwich Union (my current insurer) and tell them i wish to transfer my policy onto a different vehicle starting monday "Sorry sir, you have to be 25 or over to be insured on this vehicle" GREAT! So now what? 1 month left on my current policy, when that expires i'll have 2 years NCB so it's not worth me buying a new policy with 1 years NCB if i'll have 2 years NCB in 1 months time (what?)

So, anybody know any specialist insures good for young drivers on high group cars? (if they exist...)

as an oldie of 38 who got mine £236 fully comp, im not sure i can offer much help im afraid!

probably just try a few price comparison sites? gocompare, moneysupermarket, confused.com etc. try them all, put your details in and see what happens.

with your NCD level how it is, it could well pay you to wait until you have that 2 years discount - even if it means waiting a month until your current one renews itself. otherwise, as you correctly point out, you will have to start with a new insurer on only 1 year even though you're so close to the next discount.

Cheers, done the above, Admiral/Elephant seem to be the cheapest for me. With 1 years NCB it's around £700, with 2 years it's less £100 difference so might have to buy it now anyway, not waiting 1 month to save £100 with an uninsured car on the drive! The temptation of driving it would be too much anyway. Oh yea, one claim 2 years ago, loss of control £4700 claim cost (oops) So quite cheap considering!

Top Tip: always add another driver with a clean record and max NCB to your policy, even if they never drive it! I saved £400 once by doing that! My mum in my case...

ah i see - i was assuming you could just leave the car with the dealer for a month and then pick it up after you have the extra years no claims...but if its being delivered to you on monday then yea, not an option really. its not a car you want to have uninsured thats for definite! £700 doesnt sound too bad for your age and NCD - go for it.

Priviledge Quote for my up and coming Abarth is £526.00. Current 500 1.4 Sport is £427.00, so it's not too bad at all considering my old Punto GT was £1300!!!

Well I've just paid for mine now. With Admiral £624, not bad considering my age and only 2 years NCB and 1 crash (cost £4700, at fault) I'm so hoping it's being delivered tomorrow!

That's good (y) Out of pure curiosity I did a quote for the Abarth and it came out at around £750, that with 4 years NCB, no accidents or convictions etc and aged 21 (I'm 20 now, 21 in a few weeks).

The 100hp is going to be a far more stomachable £340 :)
