I also had bad fuel consumption that day at Bedford. I followed you a couple of times - that 500 looked great fun. I managed between 5 and 6 mpg. But then I was driving a 911 GT2 :)

Did we talk about a Fiat Panda at lunch? Or am I confusing my Porsche drivers? :)

Come over next time. I'll happily let you loose in the 500 for a few laps in return for the same with the Porsche :D

1.2 Pop, 8800 miles;
best tank was 52mpg, worst was 47.
currently sitting at 50mpg for this tank (about 200 miles so far).
Fun factor is inversely proportional to MPG!

Tony.

Haha, no, we didn't talk, although I did give you a wave once as you drove past in the pitlane (you probably thought I was a nutcase, but I still wave at 500s, even when I'm not in mine). I was in the green GT2, and discovered that slowing from almost 160mph into the fast chicane can be ridiculously exciting :D. Shame I've now returned it to its owner (my sister).

There's a red 944 for sale around the corner for £900. Go you halves in a track day porsche :D

1.2 Lounge, 6k miles and overall average is 50 mpg. With similar driving in other cars I've usually matched the manufacturers combined figure but can't get near this with the 500. The onboard computer reckons I'm getting 53.5mpg, but working about actual fuel used against miles covered tells me it's wrong.

I'm mostly doing steady speed stuff, as soon as I get on country lanes the figure drops a lot, I reckon if most of my driving involved more mixed roads I'd get in the low 40's.

No thanks, I'll be using my Integrale next time out ;) - I get 30mpg out of that on the motorway (and about 10 on a trackday).

I would be in deep poopoo with Mrs Gordini if I took the 500 on track.

I drive my 1.2 quite hard once its warmed up. Currently getting around 40mpg but I do live in a hilly region.

1.4 Sport - standard Engine

Best - 45.5 - long run to Bristol - sport button off
Worst 32.2 - Pushing it over some great Northumberland roads
Ave - 37.7 - back and forwards to work etc etc

My 1.2 after 1000 miles......According to the computer about 53mpg if I drive it very carefully (ECODRIVE still tells me I could do better!)

Mid 40's if I drive like normal traffic.

Mostly mixed roads commute.

Heaven knows how they achieve the manufacturer's figures.

What I haven't done yet is work out how optimistic the computer is.

I've given up on Ecodrive. Thank God Ecodrive doesn't know about my other car!

Over 6,000 miles the computer is about 2.5 mpg optimistic - for me. All this stuff is personal to the driving you do and the way you do it.

Ecodrive simply advises you on your driving style, it's not a measure of mpg (although the two are related obviously). You get more points for lifting off the accelerator when you can and lose points for revving the engine. I've done short (1.5 mile) trips and Ecodrive gives me a high score (86) but tells me I've got 42mpg. On longer another trip where I've driven at a higher speed I get 49mpg but Ecodrive scores lower (74). I've had an Ecodrive score of 100 but still didn't get more than 60mpg :(

A recent trip along country lanes, mainly 3rd/4th gear, lots of slowing down an accelerating gave me 47mpg but an Ecodrive score of 39.

In the end poring over the figures is pointless, if you're driving the same route the same way each day you'll get a similar mpg. Ecodrive is simply common sense but digitised ;)

1.2 with just over 5000 miles on the clock. I think my best one was around 45mpg worst one was when I got stuck in stationary traffic at 27mpg. TBH I have stopped checking as it is bound to be better than the other car (3.0 Subaru Outback) Works a treat, I enjoy driving the way I like (all fun, nothing to do with fuel economy) my husband/bank manager/mum all happy as it is still waaaay below what Subaru can gulp (don't even mention the 'power' button on that thing, I could SEE the needle going down :eek::eek:)
