Heated mirror fell off

Among several other problems, my heated mirror wasn't working on the nearside. No problem, dealer replaced it a couple of weeks ago and yesterday it fell off! The dealer is happy to replace it again but has anyone else had this problem, is it OK just to replace the glass and not the rest of the mirror housing?

Yes, its fine to replace just the glass... maybe it was too cold for the adhesive to stick properly?

Re: Heated mirror fell off

you mean it wasn't fitted right in the first place? (glass or whole mirror assembly?)

EDIT - adhesive?

Re: Heated mirror fell off

The glass is covered with an adhesive foam but there's also a plastic ring on the glass which looks like it should clip onto the mirror body, where the little electric motors are. I wondered if the mirror body might have been damaged when the glass was changed first time round, or if it's normal just to replace the glass?

Re: Heated mirror fell off

Just had the new mirror fitted, still can't see why it fell off in the first place but seems fine. Done under warranty.

Pleased to find the dealer also had a couple of new wheel centre trims to replace mine, the black paint had flaked off. I'd mentioned it last time the car was in, great service.
