Just had a flyer through from Westover Sportscars in Poole inviting me to go to see the Abarth 500 --- don't think can persuade hubbie to let me buy one as the part of the point of buying the 1.2 lounge was for the cheap fuel and tax.

Just incase anyone in the area interested but didn't know that Westover were selling them!

I got one of those, its Westover in West Quay road, Poole.

Yes, that's the problem I have with 500 Abarth, too. Particularly with the nose vents and the sill extensions, the whole thing looks too aggressive and over-fussy for my taste. It's a pity, because the Abarth coupes from the 1960s were actually very pretty little cars.

Hubbie went "yak" when he saw the flier!

The whole point of the Abarth 500 is for it to look meaner and less cutesy (as to the standard 500). Nose vents are to feed air into the intercoolers.

I think it looks fantastic, sounds fantastic & drives fantastic!! Can't wait to get mine....then we'll do some bullying

Yes, and of course for most people this is all very appealing I'm sure. I think a lot depends on the era you grew up in - my treasured memories are of those old Abarths and stuff like the Alfa Zagato coupe and the early Giulias. They were fast (for their day) but also neat and pretty. But all this just betrays my age, I guess

I grew up lusting after Coupe 20vt and cossies. So it doesn't matter if it's ugly as sins dog after playing with a porcupine that was fire aslong as it can make the hairs on your chest poke their roots out your back with acceleration.
