Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone had any decent photos of the boot space in a 500, also if anyone had pictures showing the rear seat(s) down to show space.

Thanks

Wampa

none with seats flat but sure you can imagine it with the vertical height of the seat being the additional horizontal load length

a cabin baggage pull along case easily fits along with a holdall/rucksack

went away at Christmas in mine an packed a hamper and loads of booze in it no problem at all

it is bigger than it looks in the pictures

If boot space is an issue, it may not be the car for you. We can't get a week's food shopping in the boot (at least not without stacking bags on top of each other - so some goes in the boot & some in the back). Also, neither of our prams fit.

But, none of this is an issue for us really, or we wouldn't have got it. Might be worth tinking about though...

I've got a family of four + 1 dog's full weeks worth of shopping into the boot (and when all my winter car essentials were in the boot too) with room to spare!

Hard stuff at the bottom, soft stuff on the top, simples!
My Mum manages it in her Smart Fortwo, it's about organisation ;)

Have you been watching and comparing meerkats again? :)

Boot space is relative - it's nowhere near as big as the Touran's (obviously) but Mrs. T can still shop with Junior and his Quinny on board, and feel that she's done well to boost the economy!

One piece of advice though, if you're considering a roof rack or box to boost your load space, think twice about buying a Lounge.

As far as I'm aware, no manufacturers (yet?) make roof-bar fittings that accommodate the glass roof.

Unless, of course, you hang on for the Giardiniera estate, which would appear to have roof rails, and will possibly arrive on these shores in 2010 - pretty much everyone makes bars and fittings for rails.

I may need to rethink my Touran strategy :)

I seem to remember being told the boot has a capacity of 180 litres, but split fold the back seats and it increases to around 550 litres. (Is that right?). I can't really imagine what those figures will actually be in physical space; so personally doesn't give me a real idea. From looking into the boot though, I recon it will easily suit my needs. :)

You need to be aware though that split/folding rear seats are not standard on all models (at least they weren't when I ordered mine) so if you need the extra space either add them as an option as I did on my Sport or buy the Lounge.

Split/folding rear seats are a must - makes it easier if you have one rear seat passenger but you need to stuff some extra bits in the car. As I said earlier 2 flatscreen tv's fitted in the back with the seats down so lots of room - although I now have two tiny indents in my leather seats where the seatbelt bits were pushed into the leather when the seats were down .... and that was only for 20 minutes too. (although I have indents where the child's booster seat has been too, hubbie assures me they'll lift when the seat goes but I'm not so sure, 7 years on that seat will surely leave marks!)

Heidi, I get those type of indentations on my leather sofa and they do come out. Buy a pack of leather wipes such as the Lord Shreaton's leather wipes or Mr Muscle leather care. Massage the leather when wiping the seat and the indentations dissapear. Works for me! :)

Ah, I was quite unaware of that. Thanks for the info, I'll look into costs and stuff.

Where does the spare tyre go? I currently have a Mazda MX-5 so am no stranger to small boot space, but our spare tyre takes up a lot of ours....
