no no green as I call it

reminds me of window putty (n)

they discontinued it for a reason :yuck:

green cars are always worth less if you are concerned about residuals
Ditto.

I find the whole retro thing a bit funny. It's an obviously new looking car with new technology and so many things different on it to the original and so many things which weren't even there on the original or available at the time.

IMHO if you're into retro colours, ivory ambience etc etc then I hope you enjoy your single glazed windows, dirt floor, wattle and daub walls etc etc. When Dante Giacosa penned the 500 he wasn't thinking hmmmmm I wonder if I should design this car to be like a horse drawn cart or I think I'll put some doric pillars or perhaps a roman aquaduct to remind us of the old days when Rome ruled supreme. It was thoroughly modern and if you have a 500 in white, black, red or any colour with black ambience and modern wheels it's much more in the spirit of Giacosa's creation than any of the caricatured ivory ambience'd up, retro coloured, steel wheeled retro wheel trimmed up cars. All in my opinion of course ;)

If I'm honest I'd like the current 500 even if the original had never existed.

You could of course argue that white is the most retro colour of them all, being that most of the old 500s were white.
I've never actually seen a white 500 myself and a casual look on google images shows most 500's to be of varying colours.

There's a difference between faux retro colours like Yuck Yuck Green, Chuckup Chuckup Azure and colours which have always been popular like red, black, blues and whites.

If you don't subscribe to the whole retro thing then why not buy a Panda or, dare I say it, a Ford Ka and save yourself some cash?;);)

I know it's silly to quote yourself but I think this is one of those times.

P.S I was quite happy to get a Panda, the wife just liked the interior of the 500 more.

Forums are great aren't they?! I only registered to ask about a colour I've seen. You find me a Ye Ye Green 500 for sale that's any cheaper than any other colour or maybe a dealer who always puts any green car on the forcourt for less than any other colour.......I wont hold my breathe. And as for the silly comments about the retro thing, well that's the whole point of the 500. A modern take on something old.
My wife will be interested in the colour info but not in the usual over aggressive and opinionated tosspot responses. As for me, I'll stick with the thoroughly modern forty grand luxury motorway cruiser I've just bought thanks.

I love people who feel the need to slip in the cost of their car. Wow! You have 40k to spend on a car! Good for you :)

Actually I have two, both green.
Congratulations. My wife has a green car which is worth about a grand at most, don't hear me bleating on about it for no reason :) I also had a green 406 as well so you're not the only person who's owned 2 green cars.

Do you want a medal or something? :)

Don't worry Maxi, as we all know people who buy a big car have a small ***** (and vice versa of course!) I can joke too yey!

1 in 3 sold in the UK are white, so clearly Google Images is not representative of "most" 500s.

I meant original 500's ;) The cue should have been me saying "I've never seen one in white" when I have a 500 in white :p I'll let you off this time though ;)

The colour of a car can make all the difference to it's appeal. A nice rich cream similar to the colour VW offer on the Beetle would also be ideal for the 500.
Even cars of no particular appeal to me can be greatly helped by the colour. .

Completely agree with you. I have started to notice these Beetles in this lovely colour recently. Absolutely the whole point of the Fiat 500 is its retro charm. Those pastelly muddyish colours totally suit it and more importantly look refreshingly different to all the other car colours out there. I never in my life stared open-mouthed at a car until the fateful day that I spyed a drop dead gorgeous Ye ye green one in Sainsbury's car park! I tiptoed up to it and stared adoringly into its interior – meanwhile a queue was forming behind me and a excitable hubub of admiration echoed round the carpark.

I would never dream of buying a brand new car if it wasn't for the new 500. This has brought to FIAT a load of new people who weren't previously into cars in a big way, Fiat should be making the most of that instead of pandering to the boring types who let their husbands/wives decide what colour they should get and then factor in the depreciation. ;)
