In here you will find useful information about the 500, from the ordering and delivery codes your dealer uses, to common issues/problems and service costs etc.
The thread will always be locked to keep it tidy so if you have any ideas please put them up on the board and ask for them to be stuck if you think they need be:)
Thanks.

STATUS ORDERING CODES

As pointed out in another thread, we had no actual list of the status codes used by Fiat describing the progress of cars through the factory in Poland. Which seems crazy seeing as it comes up so often.
So a quick guide.

Once you have placed an order for a Fiat 500 your salesman will hopefully be updating you on a regular basis. He will give you updates on how you 500 is coming along. This information will only be available from the dealership you are purchasing your car from. Actual information will be limited to the status the 500 is at within the Fiat system.

These status are as follows.

10 : Heavy Variability, Confirmed Order. Fiat has your order but it can still be changed

13 : Light Variability, Confirmed Order. This is the point where only limited changes to your order can now happen.

16 : Fixed, Confirmed Order. your order is now fixed and can no longer be changed with regards factory spec.

20 : Built, Fairly self explanatory.

30 : Shipment, At dock waiting to get on a boat.

35 : Transit, On the water bobbing along to the UK

40 : Arrived, At the docks in good old Blighty

45 : Ready, Car is waiting for collection by transport company.

50 : With Delivery Instruction, Delivery instruction has been sent to transport company.

55 : Goods Out, Car is on a transporter on its way to your dealer

60 : Arrival at Dealership, Yay! From Status 60 till you pick up your car is now dependent on what dealership options you have, how efficient your dealer is and when you want to pick it up.

Poor microphone in Blue and Me....

anyone had any problems with people hearing you over the microphone

if so there is a service news about it were fiat will replace the microphone for a better one to fix the problem

Many members have reported this, and Fiat do know about it, so if people cant hear you when using blue and me on your phone, a visit to the dealer could sort you out.

FLASHING MILEAGE

The dash does this to warn fiat Tech's that the accurate clocks in the dash pod and the body computer (that are vital for the accurate timing of the message packets sent over the can network) are not synchronised.

If it is flashing or has been flashing then once you need to go to your dealer and have a proxy alignment procedure carried out on the car with fiat examiner.

Even if it has stopped flashing it still needs doing the car cannot align it's self it does not matter what you do remove battery or turn off and on again the problem will still be there and still needs sorting so don't ignore it.

It will take just a matter of minutes for the Tech to do this after the time it takes for the service desk to finish booking you in.

if it is not done things on the car will stop working properly basically anything that relies on the can network.

It should be done on pdi as the cars have the earth clamp removed in storage at docks.

Having the battery off the car for any length of time will cause the clocks to stop when the power in the body computer and dash runs out meaning when reconnected it will need it doing again' they are only designed to keep running for a small period after the battery is removed like for example the time it takes to change a battery or maybe carry out some simple work on the car that requires the removal of the battery.

fiat have been using can networks for some time now so you may well ask why does it seem as thou only newer fiats are affected buy this.

Well it's all to do with the speed the can nets are running at now and the amount of electronics now connected to it with the advances of blue and me parking sensors abs ebd air bags and basically every ecu on the car.

If the alignment is out it will never stop the car from driving as the key code is sent down a dedicated wire from body computer to engine ecu.

But it may affect things that are quite important for driving like the dash may not show you speed rpm and other important things properly.

However in all cases you will still be able to drive safely to the dealer without causing any damage to the car whatsoever.

SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR 1.2

Hi guys and sorry for the delay in getting this info to everyone, however I finally seemed to have got my 1.2 starting problems sorted after three unsuccessful and one final successful visits to the dealer.

I know a few other people have been having problems with their 1.2 starting, especially when cold, so this may be of use.

On my final visit (just before Christmas) I was called to collect the car and expected to hear the usual "we can't find anything wrong Mr Kent" when I was actually told that a software update had been released the day previous and it had been installed on the car.

I cannot believe the difference it has made!! It starts, without hesitation and drives like a bloody ROCKET!!!!!

I've never thought of the 1.2 as fast, just brisk getting brisker the more miles you do. Buy with this update it'll pull in fourth and climb reasonable hills in 5th, something beforehand I had to do in 3rd.

I have no idea what version the software update is or what it actually did but I urge anyone with a 1.2 (or 1.4) that is having problems starting to visit your dealer. I can't help thinking this is the 1.2 500 I should've had from day one

500 Touch up Paint list!

Hi Guys,

I know that many of you seem to be having problems ordering touch up kits for the 500. I have put together a chart for you guys which gives you the colour code, name and part number for each one.

I have had a few questions about the Abarth kits too but as of yet I have not seen a listing for those.

Hope this helps someone!

"71805018 - 270/A Funk White £8.25+vat"

Would be interested to see what that looks like as Funk White is a 3 stage application process and I can't see how you could replicate that in a touch up brush!?
