Technical Knocking noise, clicking noise!

The Blue & Me microphone is a common fault and can be replaced easily under warranty. I've not experienced the knocking on mine though so can't be of any further help!

Hi there, I have only had my Fiat 500 since Jan 5th and cos of the snow hasn't been used. But since using it the past week it has a stupid annoying Knocking noise at the front on the passenger side when going over speed bumps like yourself. Took it to the dealer the other day with concerns that it could be stuctural problems. they took car out and heard it and said the then problem was over inflated tyres and wheel nuts needed tightening! The sound has stopped a bit but can still be heard sometimes. Bit annoying so my answer is to turn up my stereo louder! haha! I will be going to the dealer to mention to them that it maybe steering Rack.

And another problem that has come to light is the Blue and Me handsfree system Microphone aint working properly cos no one can hear me properly! Its a brand new car with all these problems, my last 2 grande Punto sportings never had any problems. think the build quality of the 500 is pretty rubbish and FIAT is definately living up to it's name of "Fix It Again Tomorrow."

Chr1s, I seem to recall that a couple of people had problems similar to yours with the suspension bushes. I can't remember if the previous poster gave an update a to whether the problem was resolved completely but I might have missed seeing a positive result posted.

You could search the 500 forum to check.

It doesn't sound like the PDI was done properly if pressures and wheel nut torque were incorrect and I would ask them to check the suspension mountings when you next contact them.

Regarding the microphone I also had problems and it was replaced under warranty (there is a TSB about this problem) but that was a year ago. I would have assumed that production models after that date would have the new mic fitted but there is the chance that you might have got an old one as it wasn't every mic that was affected, some owners have never had problems.

Hope you get everything sorted out in one fell swoop so that yu can get on and enjoy driving your car. (y)

Cheers Lloyd71 and grimwau!! Well i'm gonna take the car to the dealer tomorrow and ask for a new mic. The noise seems to have gone now although I think i maybe trying to listen out for it too much. Do the 500 have quite a lot of road noise in the cabin compared to a Grande Punto Sporting? Just that my GP was pretty quiet compared to the 500. Guess the doors ae thinner on the 500 which probs doesnt help.

Loving the car tho, it's pretty fun to drive and brings back the good memories of my mini!! :)

hi i have the exact same problem knocking on the nearside front when going over a full width road ramp.the car is a 1.3 diesel sport with 21.ooo miles on the clock. the car was in for service on friday 12/02/10.the car was on the ramp and every nut and bolt was tightened in front of me and nothing was found no play anywhere.the service manager told me if the noise persists he will bring it in and look deeper.

Well GK in Sheffield have had Mrs Gs 500 in for two days to cure the dash rattle/buzzing.

And its now as quiet as a ......, bliss.

Here is a quick summary (well what they told me)

1.Headlining out and tightened all the loose wiring around the interior light
2.Removed the dash, radio and heating units, tightened all the screws and secured any loose wiring
3.Removed all the steering column tightened all the screws and secured any loose wiring

So far its all worked. They have done a good job.

I have a 2014 500L Trekking. For months, I had an on-again/off-again hard knock under my drivers floor board. It's as if someone is underneath my car with a metal hammer, pounding my floorboard. Turned out to be the intermittent steering column. I had it replaced today and as soon as I drove a quarter mile from the dealership, my steering went out, and my steering wheel was in a 7/12 position to go forward in a straight line. Every light on my panel lit up. I immediately went back to the dealership and they claimed my steering "jumped the splines". Another hour later and it was "fixed". However the alignment was way off still, so they had to send it to Sears Auto to have it aligned. I drove off the lot and five miles to the bank, where the original knocking started all over again. This will be the third time taking it in for service for the same issue, an issue that could cause serious bodily injury or death and therefore qualifies my car to be considered under the Lemon Law. It's a shame because I love my car but it's not worth dying for.

hi, and welcome to FF,
I can feel your frustration,
but there is obviously more that 1 issue here;

a poor part failing,
an incompetent person trying to replace it

then another issue.?
MJG in the 500L section may well have better info on your vehicles, steering / suspension problem(s),
