Hi all,

Newbie here! After a few months of trying to persuade the Wife to change her Clio in on a new 500, we finally placed the order yesterday! My Wife initially hated the 500 until we were in our local shopping centre last weekend and Fiat had a couple of 500's on display. She immediately fell in love with the Funk White model with red leather/ivory ambience and so our order was placed around that with the following spec:-

1.2 Lounge, Funk White, Red Leather/Ivory Ambience, ESP, Climate Control, Interscope Hifi, Electrochromatic Dipping Rear View Mirror, Side Rubbing Strip With Italian Flag 500 Badge, Italian Flag Side Wing badges and Italian Flag Roof Stripe.

I drove the dealer demo 1.2 and was pleasantly surprised, especially bearing in mind that my car is a Chrysler 300C and the Wife's current car is a Clio 182 Sport! It was very quiet, handled well with adequate performance.

We spent a few hours deciding on final choice and now have an estimated 8 week wait looking at mid to end of January for delivery.

Stef

P.S If anyone knows anyone in the market for a nice Clio 182, let me know!

OOOo another FUnk White - mine arrived within 6 weeks so hopefully yours will be quick too. I have the red leather as well! The tax next year is apparently dropping to £20 for the 1.2 model.

I love my 500 and it's really nippy now it's bedded in.

Welcome to the 500 forum - we are a nice friendly bunch :)

our savings will be even bigger - we are getting the 500 instead of my husbands XJR 4 litre jag!! saving £150 on tax, £250 on insurance and £1,000's on petrol as the jag only does 17 mpg :eek:

8 weeks will fly by, ours is due end Nov!

Congrats Kernow!

I think I'm nearly ready to put a deposit down aswell. Has anyone managed to get any discounts from the Dealers?

no - we did look there but bought from Westover Fiat in Salisbury. I just noticed you are Southampton based - coz your name is Kernow, I presumed you were in Cornwall!!

we are near Romsey, where are you?

Good guess! I am indeed Cornish, but moved to Southampton 18 years ago. We live in Bitterne. My in laws are not far from you, they live in Toothill.

not far at all, we are actually North Baddesley!!!

There is talk of a fiat fun run on the IOW in January, let's hope you have your car in time for that! Nouavapanda was suggesting we all travel on the Lymington ferry and trundle across the island together.

sounds like fun, only slightly concerned about taking the ferry in January, may be a bit choppy:yuck:

Hi Booklady, Be good to have y'all come over to the IW, we hope the fun run comes off too!
You've chosen the shortest car ferry trip and it's usually the calmest, been doing it twice a month for years and it's never usually that bad (she says confidently!)

Seems to be a big take up down south for the 500! I feel quite cut off up here in the north (me and white 500 are the founder and only members of the North Notts and South Yorks 500 owners club) unless anyone knows different! Tho of course we all know that the streets are paved with gold down there (this is a joke please dont be beastly to me!)

Mick, it's no joke, I'm thinking of just getting a new 500 as mine needs an oil change. lol. Mind you there are some owners that change when the fragrance dispenser runs out but personally I think that is so OTT. :D

Of course buying a 500 was a massive decision for me, as being from the north, I had to make sure I could get at least 2 sacks of coal in the boot and also that I could get my whippets and ferret in the back. I was slightly disappointed there wasnt a glove compartment for my flat cap too. I expect your next one will be gold plated then tony? :D:D

Hi Booklady, is that a definite for January? I know it is in the Spring but didn't know the month.

We are looking forward to the outing and some of us are planning on making a weekend of it so hope to get some proper socialising in as well as putting faces to names. Speaking of which, sorry when I called you Fred last time, I didn't realise you were a girlie.
