I bought my gorgeous red 500 (1.2 sport) just over a week ago. I am really happy with it apart from one thing...

When I went and collected the car, I used the Blue&Me and the microphone worked absolutely fine. I called my mum on the way home and she had no trouble hearing me. However, since then I have had massive trouble with the microphone - people can barely hear me even if I shout as loud as I can! The voice activation part doesn't hear me at all. I have tried looking it up in the B&M manual, on the internet and I cannot find anything to help me.

Has anyone else had similar problems? The fact that it worked fine to start with puzzles me, I know I haven't changed any settings etc. The flippin' car garage can't fit me in for over a week so any help in the meantime will be very gratefully received!

Thanks in advance
E:)

Thanks for that. Car is booked in next week so hopefully they will sort it. Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone,
Sorry for taking so long in replying. I got my 500 booked in to the garage and fearing that they would look at it and then tell me it would need a new microphone (which I knew), which would need ordering (which would take time), I rang my sales guy up and told him that I wanted a microphone ordered in advance. Therefore, when I dropped my car off, there was a new working microphone waiting for me. I still had to pay for the privilege of driving a shocking Citroen for the day and not having my 500 right from the start but the good thing is that it is all now sorted! If you are having any trouble with your B&M microphone, get it booked in and tell them in advance you need a microphone ordering. Hope this helps, thanks for advice everyone.

So how long is it on average before the microphone goes belly up? Just wondering as mine has been fine so far, the nice b & m lady can understand me, even when I pronounce names from my phone address book. she has problems with "ey up me duck, ows thissen?" tho :ROFLMAO:

Well people were complaining of failures before mine was even built, so Im hoping its not a fault Im going to have! Just wondered if it showed up at an average sort of point after getting the cars, or if it seems a bit random. Suppose it depends how often you talk to her, I like to keep her in her place so I only give out instructions when really necessary, idle chit chat would only give her ideas above her station :D rang someone on it this morning, had no probs hearing me. So hurrah.

Mine's in tomorrow for the same thing but being done while the wife is waiting so don't need a courtesy car.

Famous last words. The wife dropped the car off this morning at 9.30 as arranged and so's not to appear pushy said that she would go shopping (the sacrifices she makes for that car. lol) and could they call her on the mobile when it was done. She hadn't heard anything by 11.30 so decided to call in on her way back to my office just to get an update.

The car was still parked where she left it as they hadn't even started the job.

The reception told her they would get on the case straight away and it would be ready in half an hour. I rang at 1.00 and was told it was just being finished so by the time I got there it would be ready to collect. I dropped her off and hopefully she now has the car back and is down the shops getting some grub for dinner.

I can't ring her to check if the problem has be rectified with the new mic as she has enough trouble using a normal phone and the bluetooth is still a dark art to her, so I'll check it tonight when I get home.

The main trouble with the Westover Group is that they are taking on too much and can't organise the proverbial drinkies to save their lives.

When they took over Fiat the servicing was done at a dedicated workshop offsite but now they have integrated the Fiat and Renault servicing area and their isn't the space. To make matters worse they have just taken on the Peugot franchise and are operating it from the same site and so the workshop has now been divided into three.

I know I moaned when they stamped Westover-Renault in my service book but they had better not put Westover-Peugot in it or there will be big trouble.

Now, where's that ferry crossing timetable for the IOW? :)

Hoping it's fixed Tony ..... mine was fixed without the microphone being changed, but she has just started ignoring me again when a text comes through so perhaps it's going on the blink again.......................................................

I saw the new Peugeot part yesterday evening .... it was bedlam in the service section before, let alone with three lots of cars in there! I may take mine to Lambs Ford garage in Ringwood TBH ... they are family friends and they will get the Fiat parts in for me and I 'believe' it doesn't affect warranty????? Can anyone confirm?

Heidi, I can confirm that it was bedlam in the service section. Ha! Ha! Just joking.

Yes, you are right, any (reputable) garage can carry out servicing as long as genuine Fiat parts are used, without it invalidating your warranty. I believe that one original stipulation was that the garage was VAT registered but this may have been dropped as collecting money for Gordon isn't an endorsement of someone's technical ability.

Keep any invoices for parts and ensure that they follow the service schedule to the letter and you will be fine.

I personally will be using a Fiat dealer but unless things change for the better at Westover I am prepared to travel further afield and combine it with a short break of some sort.
