General Do you have a "low absorption" colour?

We traded ours in for a metro, we so wish we hadnt now! Ours had several things go boobs up with it, but it never let us down. we went all over the country in it, from south wales to the kintyre peninsular, and as an estate it was great for the dogs. It was the 1.3, which seemed good in there but in the metro it was arthritic. In fact 4 or us learned to drive and passed our tests in it! It must have been heavy to manoeuvre and must have screamed at speed with its 4 speed box, but I really cant remember it being anything but a pleasure! Cant recall what the name of the actual orange colour was, wish I could!

If you do, your 500 is soon to become even more unique! :D

Fiat announced yesterday that they are discontinuing three "low absorption" colours (that's unpoplular ones to those of us that don't speak fluent Marketing) and replacing them with two completely new (O.K, pinched from other models) ones...

So, if you are the proud owner of a Jive Blue, Calypso Orange or Punk Grey 500 be happy in the knowledge that with immediate effect there will be no more built (for the UK market anyway) in your colour of choice

What are the replacement colours I hear you ask???

New Orleans Blue and Electroclash Grey.

(Waits for cries of uproar from 100HP owners outraged that their unique colour is now available on a 500 1.2 Pop! :p )

Great News! as the 500 becomes more common, our Punkster will remain relatively unique.....Will see how good that is in a few years time when we come to sell it!

RIP Jive Blue, Calypso Orange and Punk Grey :(

All three colours have now disappeared from the ordering system.

Electroclash Grey and New Orleans Blue are now available to order...

...so I've ordered one of each

A sad day indeed, what specs have you ordered the newbies in? Still reckon a fully chromed up grey with red leather would be nice.

Anyway, its not Calypso Orange, its VW 1959 Paprika Red:) Ive proved it!

...what specs have you ordered the newbies in?
Electroclash Sport, fully chromed, leather gearknob, two-two alloys.

N.O.B Lounge, blue/ivory, side rubbing strips, leather gearknob.

I was tempted with leather (couldn't decide on red or black though) but it pushed the price up too high :(

That's a real shame. My favourite colours in the 500 were Punk Grey, Ye Ye Green and Jive Blue. My wife really likes the Ye Ye Green, so I guess that's where we'll be headed next year when we look for one...

those colours are still on the configurator though!

I have heard that Ye, Ye and Ivory is a really nice combo.

That's what we'd been looking at.

Best thing for us is that we have a FIAT dealer less than 2 miles away from where we live.

We were sat on the FIAT website a few months ago, trying the configurator and settles on the 1.2 Pop or Lounge in Ye Ye Green, with air con, glass roof and alloys.

Blow me down - the exact car turned up on their forecourt last month! Different style of alloys than those we chose but everything else exactly as we, err, configurated!

We did register and have a brochure sent through - do their marketing peeps look at who's configured what on the website and send out pre-registered cars accordingly?

when i ordered mine there was one in the showroom in ye ye green, it actually suits the car really well, specially with the ivory ambience. I was quite tempted to go for it but I wanted to spend my extras money on leather interior rather than exterior colour!

is the green the same in real life as on the config. as I know that several of the colours, including Punk Grey and Calypso Orange (funnily enough) are nothing like they show on the website and I mean NOTHING like!

The dealer you use must be the one we drove past a couple of weeks ago on our way to Penzance! they had a cha cha blue and a dark metalic blue (whatever it's real name is :) )

No the green is the same as all of the other colours and looks far better in the flesh.

Completely agree, the green is much better in the flesh as are most of em! the one I saw had the white sidestripe on it too, with the checkerboard effect towards the rear, it set the colour off a treat! Thats one of the reasons I got the red stripe on my 500 as it looked so good on the green one.

That would be the dealer at St Erth - just off the big roundaboutat Hayle? They were our main local FIAT dealer until one opened up on our doorstep a couple of years ago.

Funnily enough, I don't see that many 500s when I go past them...

No, it's down to the dealer network to order cars.

So even though FIAT central (wherever their huge underground bunker may be) AND our local dealer sent us a brochure - it's still a coincedence? I smell a conspiracy - they're out there, watching, waiting with the right spec car on the forecourt just to drag us in with their net...
