Hi guys

Was just wondering how many of you current 500 owners would consider, when the time comes, of getting another?

Would you also go for the same spec or would you change practically everything?

Its obviously VERY early days for me, but as I've had the 50 500 deal, and you can apparently pay it all off early without penalty, I've just been looking around the Fiat site planning the next in a long line of 500's :D

I think I would, but I fancy an Abarth, but then does it lose a lot of its charm of being cheap and cheerful motoring?

I would go for the ivory ambience, so no Sport next time.

Nearly 2000 miles on the clock and at this stage I would happily replace with the same - just as it is.

However, I wonder what Fiat will do to the 500 over the years. I hope they don't try to change it too much or it could lose some of it's charm and appeal. Usually it seems that manufacturers keep successful models near the same but upgrade the spec on each model.

Can't think of many extras they can add to the 1.3 M/Jet Lounge - apart from perhaps a 6th gear for long legged cruising. Although the noise levels in mine are very acceptable, I wouldn't complain if they made it even quieter.

Could they put a 1.9 diesel in and 6 gears, what a cruiser that would be!!!

My finances will demand a trade in before 3rd service and 1st MOT. Another 500 will be lovely but I am worried by thoughts of the very first Panda, Micra (both loads of fun) and the Ka (can't bring myself to like it but unique) all of which have dissolved over the years into just another hatchback.

Please, please Fiat by all means tweak the 500 but don't spoil it!

I'd get another funds permitting.

I want an Abarth but they will not arrive in my part of the world for another 9 months :(

I have been very impressed with my 1.4 Sport, it just needs a little more go.

A 6th gear would be nice, with the 90 bhp chip too.

Fifth gear in the 1.3 Multijet is the same ratio (0.766:1) as the sixth gear in the 1.4 so depending on the final drive ratio, which I don't know the sixth gear might only give closer ratios as opposed to more relaxed cruising but the caveat would be a larger turning circle, 10.6m instead of 9.2m.

The benefit might be that the 6 speed gearbox would be capable of coping with increased torque if the ECU was chipped than the current 5 speed box.

Interesting, I hadn't looked at the ratios themselves. I just know that the MTD could pull a higher ratio top gear with no problem, and a benefit to fuel consumption.

Cheers

I dont normally go for the same model, but I think Id happily get another 500. I shall be looking to replace mine in late 2011... might be the Abarth but I dont really need 160hp so if the Gardinaire looks good Id get that.

Whatever it is the spec would be different as it wouldnt really be a change otherwise:)
Only thing, Id like a 5 speed box in the 1.4, six is just too many.

I usually replace cars every 3 years so that I have a good part-ex value ... I would definitely consider another 500 but something new could be on the market by then so not going to commit myself lol. I may even keep this gorgeous lovely 500 longer than 3 years (my husband would faint if he read that statement! ha ha)

I`m well impressed with my cheeky 500:) i wonder if they will bring the Uno back in a newer package i would look at that!
But i would certainly consider a new 500!(y)

I had my Punto GT for ten years and hope that I'll want to keep my 500 for that long. between my GT and this 500 I had a Seat Ibiza Sport, 12 months later I was bored of it and wanted something else, I also really really missed having an Italian car, we have a history of Fiats and Alfas between myself and Mr Snowball so it was weird not having one.

Have no idea why we bought that Seat, it was nice but too ordinary for me;)

In answer to the question, yes, I would have another but it would have to be a white Abarth:cool:

PM oldschool (GSR Engineering). Buy an induction kit from him and have it shipped to Aus. You're in WA right? Very seriously worth it. I have one fitted to my 1.4 Lounge spec here in London and its fantastic. We fitted it and she ran 109.7 (81 and a bit kw) on the rollers and torque evened out and jumped up by 6.5% down low. It totally transforms the car. About 200 quid (I think but don't quote me, email oldschool and ask) which is about $500 aud for a 10% increase in power. And yes, mine has been back to the dealer for a warranty clutch replacement and no one batted an eyelid. In fact the dealer said he hoped I didn't mind but all the mechanics had a go in it :)

I'm waiting on the ecu to be completely mapped. We're sort of running an experimental map at the moment but I'm hoping to find a bit more power there as well.

But I can't recommend the GSR induction kit enough. The difference is night and day in terms of pick up down low. And the noise is amazing. You bury your foot in the carpet and people turn around to see what's coming and then are completely shocked that its a 500. Big whooshy induction noises. Much more fun than the strangled standard air box.

cheers

A hydraulic seal broke. Dealer replaced the master and slave and seals and fluids and she was all good in 2 days.

:)

I always had a soft spot for old style (bug eyed) Multipla... but hubby says:eek:ver my dead body... so I guess we'll stick with what HE likes for his car :D (even if its Subaru). But I plan to keep my 500 until its scrap anyway (or it becomes unsafe to drive - whichever is first)
