General OMG 500's are worthless!

The 500 cost me £11K, I reckon in 3 years it'll be worth about £4K - what do you reckon?

You might do better (don't tell em about the paint job, HE HE:D)

Who knows at the moment? Fiat may well have been right at the time with the 50% residual at 36 months, but times moved on, banks have collapsed, and people are cautious.
In 3 years time, we may be booming again, and everybody wants to spend. Prices may firm up?

Maybe, but the experts are predicting that things will get worse over the next 2 to 3 years... plus the fact the government are now dertermined to push road pricing through before they lose the next election, and things look very bleak indeed.

OMG we might have to keep our 500s for 10 years or more:)
Id say enjoy your driving now, its not going to get better:(

500s will be as good as anything when the government raids our motoring pockets once more. They'll last ten years just fine, by which time oil supplies really will have peaked and driving will be a memory anyway.

I know you didnt have an AX for 5 years, they had all fallen apart long before then!
Off topic i know
Don't dis the ax's. I had an ax gt in 1988, and put 80,000 miles on it in 2 years. The only thing that went wrong was the carb cracked, so it would only work at full throttle or idle. I had to drive in traffic for a week like that. I'd use full throttle and dump the clutch to move a few feet with tyres smoking :ROFLMAO: thinking of it now, I should have just slipped the clutch at idle:D

The contract hire company wouldn't pay for a new carb, so they glued the old one!

AH, Good Times

Even more off topic, What Vespa d'you have? I had to sell my GTS last year to pay the all loving inland revenue a bit.

The thing with Alfas is I really don't like the way the numberplate is on the side, not the middle.

A bit harsh but it's not ideal I admit. Always thought the rear of the 500 was abit clumsy in its design. How about the front of the 500 with the rear of the MiTo, now that would hold its value. Desperately trying to get back on topic:eek:.

The design of the later AX's was particlarly clean. The combination of a small engine but very light body worked well in my opinion. The body panels however were wafer thin. One interesting feature was that the rear hatchback was connected to the body of the car via hinges directly attached to the rear hatchback glass.

I once received a frantic telephone call at work from my ex wife who when attemping to attach a bicycle rack smashed the glass. When I arrived home she was holding what was left of the tailgate to stop it falling in the ground.:(

Yeah, but I would counter that and say that we won wars and look at what's left of our industry, and the good old Americans helped us, GM Yukon anybody ?

At least the French and Italians kept their style.....

Wow, just reading this...

So my 8,618.19 GBP that I'm getting for my 500 ain't that bad now (it's a March 1.2 Lounge with 18K on the clock)

Only thing is that it really does depend on the exchange rates on the 13th October when I get the money :(

Jim

How true, lucky my french car (citroenC1) is Japanese. Mind you, they lost a war too:mad:

:D

No, your Citroen C1 is built in the Czech Republic, granted using all Japanese mechanical bits:) They seem to be getting a very good rep for reliability the C1, 107, AYGO Trio.
I actually like them but boy they need wider wheels for sure:)

have a look at the new 2009 dodge challenger (y)(y) ext_06.jpg

Ignore them, they are just preying on people who are totally desperate for money. They offer well below trade, so they can sell to trade at a nice profit.

Think of them as a pawn broker for cars:), but you can't buy your car back:confused:

:idea:Car Cash Converters, now that works:D
I should set it up, but I ain't got the money to buy anyones car. So there goes that idea .

:idea:No-one nick my idea!!, I'm going on Dragons Den with it!!
