I think a lot of it has to do with respect and manners! So you've obviously bought your son up properly (y)

This is the lad that takes his shoes off when I take him to the Lambo dealers in Birmingham so he doesn't damage any of the cars. I hasten to add we BOTH dream when we are in there !

Glad you have your Bella! hope you are enjoying your Bella as much as I do mine(y)

Annoying about the trailer, I felt sick one day when I returned to my car having been into Tesco, there was a car parked literally millimetres from mine, it was obviously done on purpose, persumably someone was watching from afar laughing but I felt ill and particularly as I'd gone to so much time and trouble to select my parking space:rolleyes: I normally do a couple of laps before picking my space!

Welcome to the world of 500s and prepare to install your permagrin ---> :D

I've decided only to park at the local shopping place so I can either be 'on an end' so I can park up close to that side, or find Grimwau's 500 and park next to that ... that way I know that one side will be careful! ha ha ha

I try and park next to flashy cars, brand new cars or other Italian cars in the vain hope that they might be careful. I avoid parking next to bangers, people carriers, 4x4s or cars that look like they belong to dizzy old ladies. It makes parking kind of hard sometimes!!

We do that to! Instead going for a convenient spot we look for the most expensive looking car and park next to it, glad its not just us :D

Congrats on the new car!!!!!!

I am often naughty enough to use 2 spaces in places like supermarket car parks etc. I park the car so that the line to split the spaces is under the centre of my car.

I only do this if there are loads of spaces (I'm not that inconsiderate) but I would probably torture anyone who opened a car door onto my car!

Enjoy the car Jodi

I sometimes do the same! Ive also developed snobby parking tendencies, in that I wont park next to cars that are old or look a bit battered! I'd rather park at the back of the car park and walk further.

I used to have really bad issues with my neighbour. She had an R reg Punto, and it was a hell of a state. I dont think there was one undamaged panel. I would regularly go down to my car and find bits of white paint on my car where she'd opened the door into it. Luckily, she's moved now, and my car has since been totally resprayed.

You see I'd have given her some right **** over that!

I love end spaces in multi storeys too. You can get right on the line and it gives loads of room!

Most supermarkets wont ticket you for using 2 spaces and when they do they never seem to follow it up ;) (in my experience)

I bit my tongue over it for a very long time. It put me off ever buying a new car. The funny thing is, she ended up paying for the respray anyway!

Her other half managed to knock my wing mirror off (destroying it) whilst reversing out of his space. In the process, he damaged the paint on the door and rear wing too.

He didnt seem to understand how it cost 25 quid to replace his mirror, but to repair the damage to mine cost almost 700!

We have been known to drive off and away if we can't find a 'suitable' space to park in at supermarkets .. There is a lot to be said for doing your shopping on the internet and having it delivered!

Once we parked at the far end of a car park and came out to find our car SURROUNDED by shopping trolleys - my boss saw it and thought it would be 'funny' .... grrrrrrr.

It is VERY stressful looking after your car!

I have an idea, in an anorak type of way.

There must be a large number of people with the same nervousness about parking, whatever brand of car they drive.

All that is needed is to place something on your car to demonstrate you are a considerate parker, a small sticker on the number-plate maybe, like a 10mm fluoro circle or something.

Of course, you would need to get it publicised to gain take up, maybe throughout the many forums out there......

That is a brilliant Idea.
You are a genius!
Maybe need to make the symbol a little bigger?
Will need to remember to remove the symbol if you sell the car.

It will basically tell people I care about your car and mine, and its safe to park next to me - without having to actually say it.

Ive always been very active on car forums, but there are so many out there.
Its worth pushing this idea I feel, it has much merit and would be well received.

I agree, a truly excellent idea.

This was also a source of great amusement when I first met my partner. He couldn't understand why I would basically park in the next County and walk, just to make sure no 'unsuitables' parked next to me.

The irony of the situation is that when he bought his new Volvo his mentality changed and now he and I drive around for MILES trying to find a perfect space.

If I'm on a late shift there is never, ever anywhere to park. People in sheer desperation will squeeze two cars into one space just to get to work on time. I prefer to park at my partners house some 1/2 mile away and walk to work. Perhaps there is a touch of OCD in us forum members :D

I always park as far as i can from the store or work or whatever it is - i need the exercise.

At my last work, everyone knew I used to take very good care of my car. It had a almost show car finish on a daily driver. Id spend at least one full day each month with 6 different polish, wax and sealant stages after clay etc. Every week it would have a basic 2 hour session and often in the week it woudl have a half hour hose down, dry and light wax.

Anyway, they though they would take the mick of how protective I was and take it to the extreme. They shrink wrapped it (i work in logistics and warehousing so plenty of big rolls of wrap which are used on pallets around).

It took me over two hours to unwrap it carefully as they must have used all of a couple of big rolls.

I wish I had taken a picture, but I was too confused at the time. I turned around to see everyone at the windows at work watching me.

I think youll need a slogan or something etc.

Let me know if I can help at all.
Im a moderator on the mx-5 owners clunb forum and can put an article in the club magazine which goes to 4500 uk members. I also know loads of other jap car forums etc.

Im also a member of two pt cruiser clubs.

Piston heads is also a great place to start as so many forums have people who are on there.

The fiat forum is quite big and many members will have a cross over to other forums.

Obviously only once you have devised a means of working this.
