Yesterday was the first sunny Autumn day we've had in Kent. It was superb and brought 500s out in droves round here. I can only think that the owners love them so much they keep them garaged when the weather is wet

Interestingly, nearly every owner gave me a wave or flashed their lights as they went past. (y). Have looked in the handbook and there's no mention of this being a requirement when driving a 500 but it's a really nice thing and would be brilliant if it caught on nationally.

I've had nearly 40 different cars in my driving life and have never experienced anything like this before. It's like we all belong to some unspoken elite club! About 60% of the drivers were female - what a brilliant chat up opening - shame I'm not 20 years younger.

The other interesting thing is that twice now, I've parked in large car parks only to come back and find that out of all the other empty spaces, another 500 has been parked next to mine and lined up perfectly. Is this some sort of herding instinct kicking in.

Anyone else has similar experiences?

I used to own 1983 Saab 900, and it was known that SAAB owners "say hello" to eachother on the road.

I currently drive an MG TF and we always wave at each other - mostly to celebrate the car working!!!! Looking forward to becoming a member of a new family soon.

Its a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling isn't it? I've had this experience a couple of times now.

My first car was a 1979 Triumph Dolomite 1300 and I was always flashed and waved at by other Triumph drivers.

Then I had it in my smart ForTwo as well. (y)

Look forward to being flashed by 500 drivers :D

erm.....may be that should read 'flashed at'!

Down here Id say about 1 in 4 actually wave or flash their lights. Im guessing as just about everyone else round my way has either white or cha cha blue, that they dont even recognise the other colours! Got a wave from a punk grey recently. Seen a number of black ones lately and not one has waved:(

coming from a VW camper background, the waving thing isn't a shock but it does still amuse me

not too many around here (yet. plenty lined up at the dealership) but the one I do see do wave (y)

Got a flash of the lights from another 500 driver on my way to work yesterday, was a nice feeling! I also got two young females looking at my car as they parked their Jive Blue one up just down the road. :)
