I have also posted this in the blue and me forum......

Please can you help ?

My 500 has developed a blue and me usb problem because of my girlfriend (I think).

It was all working fine then I switched off the engine and she wanted to turn off the radio. She pressed the off button quickly, nothing happened, so she did it again, I said hold it down, so she did and then the radio switched off.

PROBLEM: now I have no USB function. No I am no idiot, the car says NO MEDIA, I've tried my ipod which worked the other day, it shows it's charging but it doesn't work either. The USB memory is fine, I've taken it and tried it on my PC, no problems.

What has she managed to do ?

It appears with her button pressing she has some how disabled the USB function of the car....I'm going to kill her grrrrr.

Has this happened to anyone else....what do I do to reset it....please don't say I have to go back the dealer.....they are terrible (

Thanks

Phil

my i pod sometimes says no media but still show's charging etc: just like you'rs i have found that removing it turning it on & off then put it back in blu n me it usually works, i know you can disable the autoplay function for media players via the dash menu have you tried the voice prompts for it?
press the windows button on steering wheel and say "play anything".
one of these things usualy fix's mine sorry can't be more helpfull

Open the bonnet. Find the battery on the right side of the engine bay as you're looking in. There is a small grey plastic clip on one of the battery terminals. Slide it open and disconnect the battery. Leave it for 15 mins. Then reverse. This fixed usb and button weirdness for myself and at least 2 other people I know with blue&me. You'll need to pair your phone again and set the date. You can set the date via the buttons on the right side of the instrument cowl.

cheers
J

Thanks for the replies.

I read on a few forums about blue and me issues (of which I'd had none in two months).

Tried the voice command idea....saying "play anything" with no luck

Tried using a different USB stick.....again with no luck

Resorted to pulling the two fuses that relate to the audio/in car system.

This cured it and didn't result in the blue tooth pairing with my phone, or the radio presets being lost (I assume these are internal battery backed).

So problem solved and girlfriend banned from touching the radio again ;o)

ok talking about usb function (dont want to hi-jack anyones thread) but when you plug an ipod in our 500 it only only plays on shuffle, not what you actually want to listen to....? is this a problem? (sorry if this has already been discussed ages ago, i havn't had chance to read everything ...)

If there is an easy fix for this i would love to know....... ;)(n)
