Service Indicator

Last week my oil light started to flash with a message saying "Change Engine Oil" My 1.3 multijet had done 12,800 miles - someway short of the 18,000 miles listed in the manual for service intervals. Back at the dealers they told me it had not have been set right on the PDI and have now set it correctly.

Has anyone else found this?

Re: Service Indicator

I remember seeing in the handbook that there is a warning light/message that comes on when the on board computer thinks that the oil is "tired". This will be linked to the info that it has accumulated regarding the amount of miles covered along with journey lengths, stop/starting, temperature, driving style etc. I didn't realise this was set at PDI time as you were starting with a clean sheet, so to speak but I assume that once you have had oil/filter changed it would then need to be reset.
