General Now worried...

No they havent rung to say its there...but then I suppose why would they if they have told me to come in at 1:00 on Monday to do the handover. I think I am just being overly stressed by the whole thing but normally when I have these grudges about things I am often right...will just ring tomorrow and pester and keep telling myself I am paying nearly 10K so I have a right to ask questions.

Yes I agree with Barry that you just need to relax and wait for Monday to come - but I would ring tomorrow just to put your mind at rest as otherwise you'll be thinking about it all the time. They wouldn't have told you to come in at 1pm on Monday unless they had the car there.

My little baby is sat about 3 miles from my house just waiting for me, I've got to wait til 4pm on 13th Sept to collect ...........

Nope. its a tiny dealer in London. Heidi...how much patience do you have...I think that would kill me!!!!!

Well I ordered on 24th June so I figured if i'd managed to wait til 1st Sept, then I could wait another 12 days .... seems silly to put 500 odd miles on the new car and thrash it up the M3/M25/M1 when I can do that as a last trip in the focrap. But yes, my hubbie has reminded me that I have only ever waited longer for one thing - my child to arrive! It's not in my nature to be patient but somehow I've managed it!

The dealer taxes the car online using the AFRL system. It takes 15 minutes max and then the dealer issues the tax disc.

This triggers the direct debit from the finance company for them to pay for the car.

They will want to do that at the last possible moment so that your money is on the way to their bank as the finance company lift the money out.

The system does not work after lunchtime on Saturday so they don't want to be paying for the car two days before they get paid.

You are probably not the only customer wanting their 58 plate car on Monday so they will be working their way through the appointments.

Relax.

Cheers

Jimmy, sure it will be there if they have asked you to come in. Being the 1st September, the dealer will have a few handovers, they can be relaxed as its their day job. Just enjoy the build-up.

My dealer was relaxed. I just happened to pop in one day on the off-chance. The sales guy said come around the back, we have just had the first 5 cars in, take a look. He then showed me them, pointed, and said that one is yours... I had been like you for weeks, I should have trusted more...

I didn't pay anything apart from the £500 deposit until I collected the car at which stage I paid the balance on my debit card.

Thanks for all your help guys. Just going to ring to put my mind at rest. I am sure it will all be fine. I just can't wait to get the car. I am so excited!!!!

I am sure the dealer wouldn't have given me the appointment for 1 if the car wasn't either at the dealer or on its way. They said they are quite busy on the Monday because of all the new 58 number plates and the earliest they could give me was 1!

Will let you know how I get on!!

Yes it is at the dealers...they still said the same about the tax things...just bring it in on Monday!!! :D:D:D:D:D

That is what I was saying. You paid for the car when you got it, absolutely correct. The point at which the dealer pays for it is the second it is registered. The dealer will delay that point as far as possible so that he has you money in the bank as soon as possible after having to pay for the car.

Cheers
