can anyone advise re the first time I should go for the first time service (after how many Km), and what should I be looking to be examined/ replaced?

I don't have my 500 yet, but this info should be in the service book.

i don't have the service book...

Then you need to ask your dealer for one. Service is 18,000 miles OR every 12 months.

Unless you got your car on the 29th February, then its every 1800 miles or 4 years.
