has anyone actullay removed the front springs themself on the 500
done the back ones today no problem

got the supension leg off but cannot undo the the to nut which is holding the spring on (the spring is compresed on clamps before you ask and loose)(y)

try to clamp the suspension leg with rag and grips to stop it turning but no joy there is a 6mm allen key on the top but havent got a bigger enough ring spanner it think its 27mm so stuffed until tomorrow now:bang::bang::bang:
just thought they would undo a lot easier than this

had to stick all back on temp so i could close garage :(

where my hammer :ROFLMAO:;)

Milfy, as you've discovered it is almost impossible to undo the top nut due to the mechanical torque the leverage of the spanner creates. The answer is to use a windy gun because there is no turning force as such.
The only suggestion I can make is to take both struts off and take them to a garage/tyre fitters and bung the guy a fiver to do it for you.

ps. One of the first things I noticed on my 500 was that the concave washers on top of the struts always fill with water and if the threads have gone a little rusty that will compound the problem. (n)

Good luck with the mod.
