Hi all,

I have just started to get annoyed with my Radio. I mainly notice on the BBC channels and sometimes on local stations that it becomes crackly.

I have fiddled with all settings like AF and it makes no difference. This happens more inner city but is also happeneing out on the open roads.

Any ideas what this could be, is there something I can check for i.e. aerial connection? CD's/Blue&Me are fine.

Same here. National stations with strong signal often go crackly.

I had the same on my Civic.
Cant remember how I remedied it but will rack my tiny brain and see if I can remember :bang:.
Think it had something to do with AF but not 100% sure.

i tune many radios on new 500s at work and haven't noticed it once nor wile moving cars or using them on the road

you would need to ask maybe neighbours if they have experienced it in there cars you might just be in a bad spot

if you pull the left hand side trim from the door opening there should also be a couple of screws securing it you should find the connector in the aerial separating the rear half and the front half to the radio this is to allow the factory to fit the dash with all it's wiring in one rather than having to thread the aerial into it during fitting it and it makes it easier to change the aerial parts if they are faulty rather than replacing the hole lot

also you can check that the aerial is screwed in properly and that there is no plastic in the treads as the cars come covered in a plastic sheet

someone may have screwed it in and got some cought in the threads

Hi - We get rather crackly reception on the higher spec radio in a 500 Convertible. Where is the antenna/aerial on the convertible?

in the current weather conditions I've noticed my indoor FM reception has gone crackly - think there is a setting you can do so radio reverts to mono which usually helps. Might be more atmospheric conditions than problems with radios.
