I could be cruel Jim and suggest ebay.COM (sit it in the American's back yard) with a $25,000 opening bid or reserve.

If the car goes for more than the purchase price you paid the charity gets the difference.

Yep I remembered the car's link with the charity :D :D

I dont want to stick the arm in cause I know the person thats making the offer to buy and he's asking 'Whats it worth?'

He really went out of his way to save my Panda's bacon in 2006 in the USA so I was more thinking what a 5mth old 1.2 Lounge in white with a white interior in standard spec (but with fog lights) with 11k on it is worth here in the UK?

Jim

wots it woth in the uk threads aint allowed though :p

ask him whats it worth to him, tell him its woth to him what he wants to pay and its worth to you what you want, so get him to say then see if its near, if its over say ok an let him know that the over bit will go to the kids

There is one on ebay at a shade under £10,000.
You should take into account what it might cost him to import one too mate.
Also the fact that your wee baby has got a great history and any extra he pays would go to the kids.

I assume you mean, that he'd be saving this so can put it towards the cost of the car .

Basically I don't think it would be to unreasonable to ask the price you paid for the car new, and the cost of shipping it over there and getting all the poloution check thingy's done. Bear in mind you've done all that hassle for him Jim, and it's the only one out there!

Jon.

Americans are financially savvy - usually. This is a second hand car with the wheel on the wrong side, and with, er, poor spare parts availability and a tiny engine. $16000 sounds fair to me. However, you could tell Fiat that their depreciation in the US is not holding up, and get them to buy it with a proxy buyer - to hold up future residuals - should Fiat/Alfa ever really sell there in 2009/10 as is rumoured. This means contacting Fiat Turin and letting them know the history and the current situation. They probably won't care, but it's worth a try. Other than that, $16,000 sounds fair for a second hand tiny car with no support - unless you can find a sucker, in which case $20,000 should do it.

Also bear in mind that the prices of new cars, particularly American, are considerably cheaper than in this country. $16000 sounds a fair price in the current American maket.

ps Don't forget the reduction for the soiled seat.

When you can buy a brand new V6 Mustang for £9000 how can you say £8000 for a second hand 1.2 500 with a soiled seat is unfair?

Also have to factor in the hassle and cost of shipping it back to NI.
