i no 7years is a long time thats why i think im just going to get the ideal from fiat and then see if in 4years i still wont the the car

Bear in mind though that with I-deal, you do not own the car until it's completely paid off. You're only financing about 60% of the cars value. You'll need to pay the remainder at the end of the 4 years in a lump sum before the car is owned by you.

I only mention this as you wanted to modify the car, which would be a bad idea if you're going to hand the car back after the 4 years.

Personally I'd forget about a 500 for the time being and buy a cheap runaround that you can afford. Hopefully in a few years time you'll have built up some no claims bonus, increased your income and maybe have some savings so will be in a better position financially. That's what I did when I bought my first car. It cost me £250, lasted 3 years and I didn't have the worry of a huge debt hanging over my head. Probably sounds boring to a 19 year old but why on earth would anyone want to spend 4 or 7 years, or even longer, in debt because of a car? Stick to what you can afford.

There is an arguement, that a cheap new car with free insurance can work out better for a young person. Yes, there will be a finance payment, but thereafter, there won't be any unpleasant surprises from the insurance man, or the garage man.

Its about as close to fixed cost motoring as you can get, and allows a build up of NCB, at someone elses expense. There is usually AA or similar thrown in too.

Cheapest form of motoring is to buy £250 banger with tax and MOT insure 3rd party only and drive it for a year or untill it cost more 1/2 what u paid during the next MOT. Dispose and buy again.
Down side is you never can trust the bugger but you do learn a few essential motoring tips and your driving arround in an older less safe car all be it slowly.
How on earth we managed to get to the point in society where young people think they can afford a new car is beyond me !! This is my first and I hope only new car I will buy. If my car had lasted a year longer I would be bought a second hand 500.

You must live somewhere with a low claim rate. Insurance for a young person up here on an 899 Cinq is over £1000, 3rd party.

Same here. My 18 and 19 year old brothers are being slammed for insurance. They both pay over £1000 a year. One has a 1.2 2002 Clio, the other has a 1.25 1996 Ka. The 19 year old has been driving for well over a year, although its a first policy (0 NCB) for both of them.
