So the other day while the car was off the road getting a tyre replaced (still want to shoot whoever ast screws on end down the bottom of my road) the dealer rang me. He said he'd had a call from a lady who took delivery the same day as me. She rang him up and said 'I'm looking at my tax disc and is has the wrong reg number on it'. So he looked up the number and it was mine. A quick look at mine that night confirms that I've got her tax disc. So now I have to go to the dealer tomorrow to swap tax discs.

Initially this didn't seem a big deal to me. But it now occurs to me that I'm going to spend half of my only day off travelling from where I live to the dealers and back to get the tax discs swapped. This is irrationally annoying me. Am I being foolish?

Yes very annoying..............
I would have suggested to the dealer that the discs be collected and returned by courier or at least reimburse you for your fuel and time.

Not your mistake after all.

I've got a leather gear knob on order. I might suggest that my coming down to fix his mistake is a fair trade for such a thing :)

Possibly he will. But to be honest he was very good about the whole ordering process. I placed the order, gave him a deposit and he rang me regularly to update me on progress. When I picked it up he spent a good 2 hours with me going over stuff, pairing my phone etc. And also, every makes mistakes. If the weather is nice it might be a good day for a drive. As you can see, I'm flipping between annoyed and resigned acceptance :)

Had a similar situation when i collected my bravo a couple of months ago. Tax disc was showing the correct registration no. for the car but whichever dim wit made the registration plate swapped the last 2 letters around. Only noticed a couple of days later when showing the car to family. Dealer was very appologetic and sorted it. But i could have done a lot of silly things (e.g. fill up the car and drive off, trigger speed cameras, driven in to London for free!!!!) as the registration plate didn't belong to my car.:devil:But being a law obiding citizen i chose not to. I laugh looking back at it but could have been a lot worse.
