Hi,
I ordered the whole bodykit for my 500 on the day I ordered and paid the deposit for the car. There was no mention of a fitting charge for the bodykit. Having seen the cost of the bits, i thought the spraying and fitting would be included in the price.

On the day I went to pay for and collect the car they had added £268 (£315 inc. VAT) onto my final bill for fitting the bodykit.

As you can imagine, i was not best pleased. It really threw me as no one have ever mentioned fitting costs, plus I didnt have the extra £268 (£315 inc. VAT) in my bank account to pay for it.

The dealer explained he was making no profit on the fitting charge or on the bodykit parts. He said the price i paid was the price he paid.

He offered the knock £150 off the cost so I could afford to pay for the car.
I really was not in the mood to ruin my first new car purchase, so i took his offer.

What did other people pay for fitting costs? Did anyone get it free? Was I ripped off? Or was he really telling the truth and doing my a favour?

most body shops would charge a "rounded" price e/g £270 not an odd price like 268. i dont think you did too bad though you got it fitted & painted for £118. (y) forget about it and enjoy the car

Its absolutely unacceptable to have deelers miss off the full cost of items ordered. I had a similar mix up and was also forced to pay more than I had initally been led to beieve. When will Fiat and dealers sort themselves out and issue correct invoices for cars prior to you actually turning up at the deelership to pick the car up without the funds.

Can't comment on Fiat charges as I am new to the marque but as a long standing Honda owner I have to say that they are quite clear on charges regarding items required in body colour. For instance, on my Accord the rear spoiler price was listed as fully fitted in body colour. The rear parking sensors and body kit (in primer) were at a fully fitted price but with extra for painting. At no time was there any doubt as to the total cost of the completed work.

Hi,

If it was on the order as a full price for the car including the bodykit, then they have been exceedingly naughty.

If you ordered the car, then ordered the bodykit, and it wasn't on the new car purchase order, they have been a wee bit naughty.

The least they could have done was to warn you up front that the price for the kit didn't include painting and fitting, although it does say that on the options list. It is wrong of the sales team to think you know, even if you do know all they would be doing was confirming.

If its on the new car order as a car including bodykit for a price, then the invoice must match that, and you shouldn't have to pay.

Its not so much as being ripped off, they have boobed, and not been up front with telling you.

My dealer got the spec of my car wrong, someone in admin popped a wrong code number in, and they sorted it at their expense as best they could, but we all left as friends.

Cheers

PD

having checked the configurator i see what you mean,i've also found a German price list that mentions them, however my price list i got to take home has no mention of them...will be having words with my dealer tomorrow.

When you paid your deposit, you requested the body kit fitted and painted and signed an agreement with the dealer and left your monyey having agreed a price for the car.

All car dealers can get funny about when customers want to pull out of deals or make changes, however it appears that dealers can mess customers about and charge for it. :bang:

I have ordered a sport with the dealer fit and painted bodykit and have signed my agreement with price. So as far as I am concerned thats what I am paying.

This is what happened to me. Well unless they've added the painting/fitting to your total cost on the day you paid the deposit, i'd start saving up the extra £200+. (n)
