Technical Rust spots in Bossa Nova White

I still think some of it comes from your own and other vehicles brake pads & discs. The tailgate is always the first part of the car to get dusty and some of which must be particles from the brakes. When it rains these then rust. Pads and discs wear and it must all end up on the road surface.

All this sounds feasable and I don't disagree.

What is puzzling me is I have a similar problem gradually ruining my year old windows.................don't even live on a busy road.

only just read this thread (being a newby) and sure enough our car had them to, i was bl***y annoyed, but the rust particles are higher on the boot lid as well below the number plate (again, another dealership drilling the body)... and they weren't even level!! put smaller plates on with the private reg, and they were there, looking all wonky, and the front too!! idiots... anyway, i've learnt something again.....

My car had none of these spots on it anywhere, and my number plates are screwed on. I clayed the back to remove some tar spots the other day and it was spotless!

Can somebody please clear this up for me please regarding fixing the plates on? So there are holes ready to take the plates from the factory (the ones with the plastic plugs in them to screw the plates into i am guessing...) but some dealers are still drilling into the tailgate itself to fix them on?!

Think supplying sticky pads may be the way to go...

if the dealer is drilling tailgates...what are they made out of? I assume steel?

How are they resealing the paint to prevent corrosion?
