Re: Member Consumption Data

On average around town most of the time (with the missus driving) it worked out just about 48mpg over 350 miles.

Just been on a 60 mile trip where only 10% was town driving and never exceeded 60mph and averaged 62 mpg. I think that is pretty poor as I was on light throttle openings and always using the correct gear.

I think the torque is pretty poor and I find that under 45mph unless the road is really flat it doesn't pull very well in 5th gear.

Perhaps this is why a remap gives better fuel economy, the increase in torque should enable one to use top gear more often. I would hope that it would pull strongly from 40mph with a remap. I wish I wasn't so scared of invalidating the warranty.
don't always belive the hype.... more power using less fuel  in my experience more power needs more fuel.. plus most "re-mapers" are unwilling to give a before and after roling road tests of the cars power. if you want a faster 500 buy the 1.4 or the abarth

1.2
2,550 miles
Always two people on board
Always in a queue, with a few short bursts
Always driving frugally (petrol costs, arghhh!)
Average 46 mpg..

Gonna spend next week driving like an Italian - will see if it makes any difference and let you know.

Re: Member Consumption Data

Well you are very lucky. I have a 1.2 Lounge average 41mpg at best, usually 38.5. I don't flog it although always have the climate on most of the time but I'm still really angry it's so low. I drive a mixture of town and A Roads, was expecting at least mid 40's.

Climate will use about 4-7% more fuel ,everybody drives differently ,give the engine a few thousand miles to loosen up and you should be mid to high 40`s(y)

I've mentioned this before, I am not interested in more power (BHP) I don't want to go faster.
I would like more TORQUE so that the engine would pull more strongly from lower revs in a taller gear. I think this is the main reason a remapped ECU will give better economy, but only if you drive as you normally do and not use the extra power for faster acceleration/top speed.:bang:

Re: Member Consumption Data

1.2 Lounge (Dualogic) (The whole bodykit, which someone suggested may make my MPG worse )

Distance: 345 Miles

Average Speed: 51mph (at least what the car says, but i'm damn sure i was doing 60 and 70 most of the way, i really do think my speedo is not set right.)

Average Consumption: 54.8mpg! (i'm super happy with that, my last car would do an amazing ~24mpg if i was lucky)

Motorway driving, between 60 and 70 mph. Did the last ~40 miles with the fuel light on, i was determined to do my trip in one tank of fuel.

Having mine re-mapped next Tuesday so will let you know how it affects consumption. Torque was my prime consideration.

Re: Member Consumption Data

My average speed has never said that I have gone faster than 27miles per hour???????I've reset it but it still comes up with the same, but then again my fuel guage is up the spout again after taking it in to be fixed !!!!!:(

Re: Member Consumption Data

Thought I would share my numbers.
The car is a 1.3Mj with 724 miles since april ie still being run in!!. Taking the milage and volume to fill the tank I have calculated the MPG to be: 54, 45 and 45mpg. The two 45 are my usual city commuting and the 54 is part commuting and one long journey. The last fill did Nottingham to manchester and back in less than 1/2 tank and the trip computer indicated not less than 55mpg and anything up to 75 so it'll be interesting to see what I calculate the mpg to be.

1.4 lounge
just done 900 or so miles Lancashire - Dorset - Newquay - Lancashire, total mix of motorway / traffic jam / country lanes etc etc, some sport use

40.9 mpg it came out at

Girlfriend uses the car to commute, 30 or so miles a day, rarely uses sport

38.9 mpg
