Is it possible to set the radio so that it doesn't come on automatically when the ignition is on?

Anybody? Nobody?
Ours was set in off mode, but after fiddling about to get the ipod working the radios turning on with the ignition now, what to do to switch back?

The radio is turn off and onable like any other, via the big button on the left of the head unit, its the round centre one. To turn radio off press it for a couple of seconds.

NP, It will still come on when you next switch the ignition on though. DT900 (like myself) would like to be able to turn on the ignition without the radio automatically playing. I've got used to it now but if anyone does have the solution I would be very grateful to know.

Don't understand! Posted on forum that radio ALWAYS came on when switching ignition on, despite manually turning off as suggested by NP.
This morning, went to get car out of garage, switched on ignition and, lo & behold, the radio stayed off.

The display remained blank, just as I have been wanting it to since the car was new. I haven't done anything different so I'm at a loss to know what has changed. The car has now done 1008 miles but I can't believe that the radio is programmed to disobey you until you have done over 1000 miles.

I'll check it again tonight but to me this is a mystery that might never be solved.

So do people turn the Radio off before switching off the ign, or do you let it go off with the ign if the 20min thing isn't set?

If you let it go off with the ign then it will come back on with the ign, if you turn it off before you turn off the ign, then it shouldn't in theiory come back on with the ign.

Jon.

I used to turn it off manually before switching ignition off. I assumed it would work like my previous car inasmuch as it would revert to the setting that it was in when the ignition was turned off.
If you wanted it to be on as soon as you turned on ignition you would leave it on and then just turn off ignition and vice versa.

Well, mine has turned off and on just like a normal radio ever since I got it.... not sure why yours should turn on unless you have the 20 minute thingy enabled? There is a function which allows the radio to operate for 20 mins then turn off automaticlly... somewhere!

this function is for using the radio without the keys in e/g when washing the car or on channel tunnel ! it turns off after 20 mins so you dont forget and flattens the battery. to get the sub menu press and hold the button that says menu you can change this the speed volume increase and some other bits in this menu.. hope this helps, trah :)

Thanks, but no. :(

i had a customer saying the same thing but when i looked it was indeed misbehaving but after i played with it a bit going throu some simple sequences turning ignition on turning it off and turning it ignition off again it was fine worked like i thought it should

from what i can gather

if you turn the radio on with the keys in or out of the ignition but in the off postition it will come on for 20 minuites then go off to save battery or another 20 minuites if you turn it on again

if you turn it on with ignition on and leave it on it will come back on the next time you turn the car on it stays how you left it last with the ignition on weather you start the engine and drive or not

again if you turn it off with the ignition on and then turn ignition off it should stay off the next time you turn car on weather you started and drove the car last or not once again

there is also a function that will keep the radio on after you turn the ignition off for 20 minutes automatically if it was on when you turned ignition off and again in this situation it will come on again the next time you start up

the instructions are pretty pants covering the on off functions and how the radio should react confused the nell out of me

from the one i played with it seems it's posable to confuse the radio that's the only explanation i can give it was very weird

so maybe should try what i did

with key off turn the radio on and off again just to check it comes on and off properly

turn key to mar if the radio comes on start the car turn radio off stop the car turn off the ignition wait 2 minutes for the body computer to shut down as it is responsible for sending the ignition on off signals over can net work to radio turn ignition on again

after you have done this it should stay off as you instructed it to do so 2 minutes ago

it might be something to do with the way the cars come from fiat nothing works on them radio interior light main beams anything that could flatten the battery in transit is disabled and is turned back on at the dealer with the fiat examiner on pdi so maybe when they are turned on for the first time they are a little confused and need to be run throu all there functions like i have posted above to get them working properly

infact i'm quite sure thats what it is thinking about it

thats how it looked to me

so good luck every one with your radios hope they behave and do what you tell them to

You cannot do anything about that. That´s the setting from the factory!

Mine stays on after I've turned the engine off and removed the keys etc. so I always have to turn it off manually. The same when I start up, it doesn't switch on until I do it manually.

Any idea how to change this?
