Good evening I got a question for you all.
I ordered my 500 in April and finally today she arrived to the dealer. For several reason I will not be able to collect my car before next Friday, I'm dying to drive my new baby, but anyway today I received a call from the dealer telling me that I have to have the car insured before Monday because if it goes into July I will have to pay the increased cost that are coming into force from the 1st of July and that even if I will collect next Friday I will have to do the insurance (even the free one from Fiat) to have the car taxed in June and no increase in the price.
Now my question is what is all the rush? and do you think that now they will really charge me extra money for price increase, and also was the price gone up 2 weeks ago? The dealer has been brilliant up to now but looks like something funny is going on now. I also been asked to go to the dealer tomorrow morning to sort some paperwork out, bare in mind I did not take any finance.
Please advice, any help is much appreciated.
Cheers

Good news that it's here but I can't see why it needs to be taxed in such a rush?

I used the free drive-away insurance and had a nightmare trying to get the cover note through to the dealer, I spent in total about two hours on the phone trying to sort it out. I wish I hadn't bothered!

Hope you get to the bottom of the rush, all seems a bit odd...

Sergio, Probably trying to get you in to this month's quota for registrations so they meet targets.

Snowball, I used the NU free 7 day driveaway insurance and apart from all the questions they asked all I had to do was give them the dealer ID and they emailed it to them whilst I was still on the phone to them.

Hi Grimwau I thought of that as well but seems bit odd. Well i will see if tomorrow morning i will get some more info.
I got my own insurance already on the car starting from next friday and i had to do the free week one from fiat today for the rush.
Bah!
Snowball Regarding the insurance today when I applied for the free week they e-mailed the form to the dealer straight away, or at least I hope so!!:(

Yes, that's what they were meant to have done. They didn't. I had to chase and chase and chase and eventually, after hours on the phone, I managed to get it sent to my husband's work Email and he dialed in and retrieved it. When it came (we got them to copy in the dealer Email address they were using so we could try and work out why they weren't getting it) the Email address they had for the dealer was completely wrong despite me giving it to them over the phone.

I wouldn't touch Norwich Union with a bargepole now, I did eventually get through to a helpful operator but dealt with several who seemed disinterested.

All water under the bridge but it did rather put the dampener on things.

Could have been the dealers fault since I would have thought contact details such as a fax number and email address would be associated with the dealer code. You should not have been required to provide them with an email address yourself.

The dealer told me they had never had a problem getting the cover note Emailed before. I told them the Email address to try and get it sorted otherwise it would have delayed the collection of my car and I didn't want that!!

Hey ho, sometimes the simplest things end up being a saga.

Well been to the dealer on Saturday Morning and I seen my baby that is expecting preparation!!
She is so sweet!!
By the way I asked the salesman about the rush and I told me that there will be more sales increase on the 1st of July;
I think is just a big lie, I pointed out that the price increased mid of June, and he came again saying there will be even more price increase, bigger lie!!!
:bang:
By the way I will get him in the end don’t worry.
Just cannot understand why they should be lying like that, just tell me that you need the quota for your bonus and I could understand.
So really look like you are saying register the car by the end of the month to reach the quota!!

The car I ordered last Tuesday was £195 more expensive than the brochure price list - I assume that's the 1st July price increase?
They went up in June, but yes.

THey aren't getting any more money out of me even if it takes 6 months to arrive - I have a contract in my hands now!
If anything out of the control of Fiat goes up (Road Tax, 1st Reg Fee or VAT basically) between ordering and taking delivery then you will have to pay more.

Other then that, the price on the order is the price you'll pay ;)
