So, I was driving home from work last night, I stopped as the person in front of me turned right but the guy behind me didnt and went flying right into the back of poor Alfonso. After much tears and hyperventilating I dared to look at his back end and was surprised to see that the damage doesnt 'look' that bad. He is off to the garage today to ensure there is no hidden damage and he will need a new bumper but fingers crossed its no worse than that. Sleepless nights ahead :(

How awful. Commiserations from Cornwall, and I hope your insurers have it all sorted out quickly.

Emmy, sorry to hear about the accident, luckily, no-one was badly injured (I hope). It's so annoying, you can drive an oldish car for ages and nothing happens but as soon as you get a really nice car something like this happens. It makes you want to .

Not up in the same league as you but the wife's car has just had it's first ding. One month old and I was giving it a wash and right in the middle of the drivers door is a dent. Looks like someone has opened their door whilst parked next to it and not worried too much about being careful.

Luckily, Bossa Nova White makes it harder to see but I imagine on a darker colour it would show up worse.

Grim, you can get a lot of little dents out for minor cost (comparitively). Have a word with your dealer, they will use somebody for their used car prep. I have just had one taken out of my wifes car, double curvature, really tricky, cost me £40. Shame you are so far away.

Mark, thanks for the reply. When I had my Accord and some woman (I'd say "person" except that it was a woman. I am not being sexist, my wife is a woman:)) hit it I asked the Honda dealer about getting a dent on the back door done whilst it was in the body shop.
He said that if they did it they would need to spray the whole panel but they used a local guy for this sort of thing. They arranged for him to do it whilst at their premises and I couldn't see where the dent had been afterwards. Absolutely brilliant work, I'll get his details from them and give him a ring.
Cheers

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you're OK and your car is alright.

:)

Thank you all for your messages.... I'm fine, was very sore and stiff the following day and the depression was setting in so was feeling very sorry for myself. The verdict for Alfonso is that a new bumper and impact bar will be needed. And I've been left with a bright blue Nissan Note as a like for like replacement (!)

The guy that hit me was driving an 05 Pug 206 which came off worse than Fonzie thats for sure.....the ins company say he has accepted full responsibility so no probs there.

So Alfonso is staying at the garage this week and will be as good as new by Friday. I did seem like a slightly obsessed, neurotic lunatic when I questioned the mechanic before handing the keys over; 'its definately Fiat parts you'll be using' 'you do know the bumper needs to be Bossa Nova white not Funk white' 'he is only 3 months old so please look after him'.....I was dragged away by the boyfriend

Should have got a Fiat body shop to do it.

I think by law you can choose where it gets done (within reason).

Would have been ironic if you got a Micra instead of a Nissan Note, hehe.

Hope you get Alfronso back soon, and that all will be better(y)
