I Fitted the OMP lower strut brace to mine a few months ago, 26 quid well spent.
It took 10 minutes to fit and has transformed the handling completly, the body roll has vanished (unless you really push hard then its only minmal) , there's none of the skittishness in bends as the rear inside wheel starts to lift and has reduced the bouncyness noticably too.

Mine is a 1.2 and i left my mates 1.4 for dead on the lanes, he couldnt keep up in the bends at all. Fun Fun :D

Dont buy from ebay as they are listed at nealy £40 buy direct from omp they only charge £26.

That sounds very interesting. Do you have the part numbers for the braces ?

There does not appear to be a part number, but if you go on the website www. strutbracer.co.uk you'll find them. - ingnor the upper one it's purely cosmetic as it does not bolt to the strut tops but to where the front bumper meets the wings:confused:. they appear to have put the price up to £31 now - still value though.
where in notts are you - i'm in Long Eaton:slayer:

But I believe Ford has softened the springs too, so you get a more compliant ride combined with better roll control, at the expense of slightly higher component cost.

Ive been trying to find out that, I have book about the new KA which has all details about them, and it mentions the new axle and roll bar, but nothing about springs and dampers.
If the springs are softer and fit then Id take a chance.

That's a piece of info that they haven't included on their webpage. They only list it for 1.3 & 1.4. (y)

p.s. if you enter 66749585 into the voucher code box you will get 5% discount.

If they were to add an ARB and don't change dampers/spring rates you'll get a very choppy ride :)

I'm sorely tempted by one of those if they make such a huge difference, may do the drop & the brace at the same time.

Any pics of it fitted?

Careful if you do, it reduces the ground clearance under the engine by about an inch and a half. i've not caught anything with mine but its at standard ride hight.

So we end up with a steel bar hanging down 1.5 ins below the rest of the car, securely connected at either end to the front suspension mounts. Wonderful. Then if we are trundling down the ubiquitous steep Cornish farm lane, complete with large and immovable granite boulders sticking up in the middle between the ruts, we can imagine the inevitable result . . .

I think I might just pass on this one :)

aye - townies only I'm afraid - but it is worth it just for the extra stability you get even if you dont drive hard, very noticable on roundabouts.:)

Just been into Ford and looked under a KA, theres one sustantional rear anti roll bar on the beam, the sales guy reckons it rides very well.
If only there was a way of finding out if the springs and dampers would fit the 500, Id do it. Cant find any info on the Net.

Give Spax a call, they did some work on Rob W's 500 & apparently it rides much better.
