:confused:I want to turn the annoying noise off as when the wife is reversing up the drive she has her belt off and is annoyed by the sound. I read in the Handbook that it can be done, but by a dealer only, even though it can be reinstated using the menu in the car.
I had a look in the menu options and couldn't see anything about this (perhaps it only shows up when it has been unset). I had no problems with turning the DRLs off (for the summer) and hiding the 'B' trip info but can't see any info about this.
Anyone got a clue?

Plug the passenger seatbelt into the drivers seatbelt socket? I noticed they always do this when my car come back from being fixed (numerous occasions).

Your dealer should do this for you for free, as it is your preferred option. All this should have been set up at PDI to your preference (but of course no-one asked you, I expect).

Useful tip, Thanks

John, You're not wrong.

Does this happen when the car is put in reverse?

My GP has the belt reminder and manovering the car on the drive as soon as you take the foot off the cluch it goes crackers, However as soon as you stick it in reverse it shuts up i think its liked to the reverse light switch IE it doesn't get as far as fully in the gate to shut it up..

if yours wont stop beeping in reverse either its a different system OR you have a fault..

I assume the theory being is that you are allowed to remove your belt to enable you to see when reversing

IIRC from what someone said on the GP section Fiat will only deactivate the drivers belt if you have a medical exemption from the doctor/DVLA..

just what i was thinking i will give it a try with one tomorrow and report back

no not true nothing is in place to stop them doing it on request

they can disable it with the fiat examiner but not straight away you must wait a day at most for the dealer to obtain your cars code card from fiat

as the examiner ask's for the code before allowing it to be carried out these cards cost the dealer about 10 quid so i wouldn't be surprised if they try to charge you but i think it's fair you shouldnt have to pay for it as you may have not been told about it/heard it as you were wearing your seat belt on test drive and so on so never had a chance to have it done when you got the car

it's basically new European directives for car manufacturers to follow same reasone they wont allow you to turn it off with the menu in the car

if it does now beep at you in reverse aswell as forwards then they need a kicking for being stupid as you are indeed allowed to remove your belt to aid vision wile reversing in the uk
