People need to get some blo*dy common sense these days, don't know how lucky they are to drive in quiet cars with airbags, crumple zones, sound systems, tyres the grip, cars that go around bends and not weave at speed, comfortable etc and not need to be told what NOT to do:rolleyes:

Too bloody true!!

Just seen the article in Auto Express. Thought it was only a matter of time when i saw the C3 Picasso story. Strangely they've been too naive/stupid to try a Panda , but if it turns into a recall it's gonna be massive.

Tbh i dunno whether it's worth a recall because if you keep your feet where they're meant to be it shouldn't (and won't) happen - just look how few cases have been reported on here with the huge number of 500 and Panda owners.

However, Fiat should've modified the design from when they were first alerted about it by Forum members to prevent it escalating. If it does end up costing them dear they've only got themselves to blame.

Didn't know it also affected the Bravo though - is there ANY car that doesn't have this 'problem' as it's now being termed as? Seems to be turning into abit of a farse.

It does look like there was a slight design change Liam, there is a slightly larger plastic shield around the bar in my car :)

Here's a picture of the upper passenger footwell arrangement in my car. It's a 2010 model.

Click to enlarge if you want more detail.

Personally I think this is a load of fuss about nothing. If your passenger manages to operate the brakes using this bar whilst the car is still moving, you should post the details in the Kama Sutra, rather than this forum.

I think the older models didn't have the raised black plastic bit around them. Mine is an 09 and looks like that too :)

I tried as hard as I could and could only just get the brake lights on......

So I can't see the issue then like you. IMO there is no 'dangerous' defect. Iirc TDQ said she could get hers to stop dead at 5mph, but at that speed next to no pressure is needed to stop the car anyway.

I really can't see what the big fuss is about.

In that case i take it back. From looking at the photo posted i'm inclined to agree that it's a fuss about nothing & maybe just early models need looking at.

Thanks for clarifying (y)

I have a 59 plate 1.3 Diesel. Driving home tonight with boss in passenger seat on the M25 and he hit the bar, luckily was only doing 40 but car behind nearly went into back of me. Will be calling Fiat first thing in the morn.

You know it had to be said. If my passenger did this, AND DIDNT REALISE what they were doing, they'd get thrown out of the car by the time it came to a complete halt with their stupid footsie antics..

Exactly my view. If you were meant to be sticking your feet up there then car mats would extend up behind the dashboard.
