Just found out that the EPA and DOT want to 'Test' the 500 before they'll release it on to the US roads...

Mmm... Oh yes and they want to charge me to do so!

Oh, EPA is Enviromental Protection Agency, this, from the country that has huge SUV's that barely do 9mpg !!!! :bang:

They will probably also probably require a tyre print and a headlight scan.

Yeah, they've changed their policy on 'Funny little Foreign Cars' since I took the panda in.... So they need to test one before they give written permission to the department of transport that the 500 isn't going to be a weapon of mass destruction, LOL

That's the pain of always being the first to do anything

Doesn't matter that I'm taking it back out again either, they still have to test it :(

they won't let it in because its too good on fuel and its safe plus itally is near iraq :D

I got everything under the sun when I was there with the Fiat Panda...

'Is that one of them funny little cars that runs on Corn?'

'Ill give you 200 dollars for it so I can put it on a pole outside my auto shop...'

'You actually drove that across the Atlantic?'

Etc....

But you get stupid people everywhere... Look at Mini Clubman owers, LOL

i get "ooo you're from England do you know the queen":bang:

End of spam (forever:eek:)

Jim, could this potentially threaten the trip? They couldn't say no. Could they?

There is always a chance... Look at the problems we had getting the panda in with Insurance cover.

It does seem to be more of a formality than anything else as the 500 is already pretty clean and it's only and 'environmental' test, not a full MOT.

The do completely bar some cars from entering thou... V8 Land Rovers are out for a start for some reason
