General Bloody America!

There is always a chance... Look at the problems we had getting the panda in with Insurance cover.

It does seem to be more of a formality than anything else as the 500 is already pretty clean and it's only and 'environmental' test, not a full MOT.

The do completely bar some cars from entering thou... V8 Land Rovers are out for a start for some reason

Yanks dont buy them thats why...

Fingers crossed then. I hope the powers that be don't see this thread or it's title!

It's ok. Most American PetolHeads that I know hate that bloody legislation!

They'd love to be able to bring in Intergrale's, Cosworths and such but as it stands you can only import a car older than 21 years without DOT approval...

I asked the American club for their opinion on this EPA/DOT test and I got a pretty interesting answer back!

Jim, as far as the EPA/DOT "test" is concerned (DAMN GOVERNMENT!!!), I can assure you that yours would not be the first new Fiat 500 brought into the USA. I know for a fact that at least one was at the big SEMA show (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) in Las Vegas months ago. I believe it was there under Microsoft's exhibit because the car had Microsoft's "Blue and Me" technology in it (the equivalent to Ford's "Sync" system here in the USA). I don't know if the car was ever driven on public streets and roads, but if it was, then that one-time EPA/DOT testing was done!

Think I need to make sure that the Importer (World Express Inc) aren't taking the proverbial as they're 'charging' to manage this 'test' for me!

Mmm....
