I find quite the opposite. Because it's fairly small on the road I find people try and bully me and swoop in right in front of me etc. Can't say I have found anyone to be any more courteous.

I find them rude......... as in, it's rude to stare!

I've had more people stare at this 500 than either my new Lotus Elise (1999) or my new Porsche 911 C2S Cabriolet (2008). It's amazing :D

People have even slowed down on the motorway, to make sure I overtook them, and then sped up to overtake - driver and passenger staring all the while.

Am I off topic? ;) Are these observations admissible? (y)

Allowed.

Mainly because I find the exact same thing. :)

I get a lot of courtesy from other road users... People are soo nice. Thou I think it's more due to having the signs on the doors saying that this 500 will be raising money for the local Hospice that gets so much good will.

Is nice thou that I get to work a lot less wound up cause of people being a bit more 'giving' on the road on the way here. :)

I've had strange behaviour too, usually involving kids taking pictures with their phones...

i find most other road users fine, except for those Nissan Navarra / Mitsi L200 pickup drivers, who sem to be the antithesis of all the 500 is. I've also noticed - so far - non of those "accidental" dents from other cars opening their doors, that frequently seem to mark my BMW - though i suppose the Fiat is narrower.

I live in Devon & drove to Bristol the other day, along the M5, and noticed lots of cars pulling out to overtake but taking ages to actually pass by !!
The 500 seems to get as much attention as my '99 Mini Cooper, another great character car.

find ppl on the roads much the same as before but do find that as you drive past ppl who are walking they turn and stare

one guy i noticed staring followed me down the street even turning raound and walking backwards, as he turned back round i saw him dodge the lampost he nearly walked into ha ha ha :slayer::devil:

I get alot of people look and stare at my car too, or they look then they suddenly look back again in my work carpark loads people really look at it and walk round it.

But on roads i don't see a difference people still d***kheads to me.

I don't find that people stare at me in my 500, but I also ride a BMW C1!

Now if you want to be stared at.....!!!!!!!

I find that it's noticable how much more polite other road users are when I'm in the 500. I seem to get let out more at junctions & appear to be able to get away with more 'cheeky' driving than I would normally.

Absolutely spot on, it's exactly what I've found, maneuvers that would have left a resounding horn blast in your wake in an slk just do not rub people up the wrong way when it's the 500 nipping sweetly about.
As for the attention it gets when next to 80grand cars well, anyone remember the episode of top gear where Hammond stood next to an AM V8 Vantage cabrio with just the cutest puppy and all the ladies stopped to stroke the wee pup instead of ogle the car?

Well, that's the 500 effect for ya!(y)

don't worry people will stop staring when the 500 becomes as common as the bmw mini ;).
