Found the same, we had a 2000 Mini Classic Cooper S (John Cooper conversion). People looked at that a fair bit.
Agree with the first bit, the second, well, if the oppourtunity to get one came up, consider it sold!Too right... REAL MEN drive small cars!!

Y E S!!!! this happend the other night across the road from my house where I'd parked the wee man. Strange
is that why the mini sounds like its driven electrically?with that weird wurring noise?i was wondering what the hell is that everytime i see a mini drives past.
yeah me too! i thought it was like some amazing german engine and that was the sound of it sipping fuel! obviously not, i feel disappointed but smug all at the same time! it's a virtual smorgasbord of emotions!
I just spent 4 days working in Italy near Milan and noticed that in some of the more popular tourist places the new 500 is already getting common(ish). Saw 2 black, 2 brown (oh dear), 3 white, 1 red and 1 yellow. Mini's out numbered them about 3 to 1, and Smart cars were probably outnumbering them 4 to 1. So my guess is that they are catching up fast and will overtake Mini's in the popularity / commonality stakes pretty fast if Fiat can make them quickly enough (especially as everyone here thinks they're both better and cheaper than the Mini).
There's no doubt that they're real style icon already, so people will love them for ever, just don't expect them to remain exclusive for long - enjoy it while you can!
But the bottom line is that I know how many 500s I saw because every one of them made me look - it's a sure fire classic!
Thats the one. I think its the pressure release value for the power steering fluid. Normally in most Fluid power steering systems you only hear it on full lock, in the mini it seems to be constantly though.
