306Maxi The thing is as you have pointed out some of the options do appear to have huge margins in them but not all of them leather and the ESP as already pointed out are very reasonable when you compare them to other marques.

I don't think you were being attacked but you did point out some of the options where a big margin is there all Ensonricky did was point out some of the options where the margin was considerably smaller.

My point was though that a lot of people are getting very high margin options on their car. Most people on this forum at least seem to have stickers, a bit of chrome and so on which is where Fiat makes their money :)

I know of someone on another forum who ordered a car worth 14,124 which is a helluva whack over the 10,705 that you can get a white MJ sport for. While like you say things like ESP are quite good value and other things like leather compare favourably with prices in other brands a lot of the options are still going to net Fiat quite a bit of money and convince them to hold off on the Abarth's if they're making money on the current 500's/

Pure speculation regarding the impact the sales of options will have on the release of the Abarth. Personaly given the fact the the Fiat group is currently thriving in most forms the sales of the 500 options I feel will have little impact.

Also a prestige model in a range raises type awareness and often has an impact in increasing the sales of the other models in the range.

Any delays to the release of the Abarth are far more likely to be due to simple logistics. Fiat have already increased production of the existing model to meet demand and the suppply of parts etc will already be commited to existing sales. Also the Abarth wil be built at new facilities requires a dedicated dealer network and mechanics.

BTW Where on the Fiat Website does it give the price for the leather gear knob?

Not quite sure what you're trying to say there. I never said Fiat were having trouble selling options in fact I said the exact opposite. The fact of the matter is that Fiat don't currently have the production capability to produce the current 500's as well as Abarth's. So why push back normal 500 orders when those people are speccing their cars up nicely and sending lots of ££££'s Fiat's way. People who want an Abarth will wait for an Abarth. The only sales I think they're missing out on is GPA sales. There are plenty of other choices in that class which people will find just as attractive.

The 500 is the prestige model in the Fiat range. It doesn't really need a halo model to sell it because it is it's own halo model. People aren't buying a 500 because they can't afford a GP or a Bravo or another model. They're buying a 500 because they want a 500.

Again your opinion, based on what evidence I have no idea.

Please will you read the posts properly, where on earth do I say Fiat are having difficulty selling options. What I am saying is your suggestion that whatever the volume/value of options sold is impacting on the release of the Arbath is wide of the mark.

Your conspiracy theory for the JFK assasination must be great value, keep up the entertainment.

I never said you were saying that they were finding the options hard to sell!!!!!

Of course I'm speculating and of course it's opinion. But at least I'm providing justification for my opinion that makes sense. You simply say I'm wrong without providing any alternative reasons or justification.

Hmmm Fiat delaying the 500 because it doesn't have enough production capacity.

Now why would Fiat delay a high margin car like the 500 Abarth if they're not making a nice healthy margin on the cars they're currently selling?

OK smartypants. Why have Fiat put the date for selling Abarth's 500's back to next year if not for the fact they're probably making heaps of cash out of people speccing their 500's right now?

Two words, production capacity.

If the 500 (and for that matter Panda) weren't selling as well as they are Fiat would be able to utilise the unused production capacity to build Abarth models.

So come on folks, stop buying regular 500s and the Abarth will come quicker! :p

That's exactly what I said :p

I agree! Stop buying regular 500's and also Panda's and it'll all be ok :p

The same conclusion I proposed earlier.

And just one more time for those hard of hearing, I do not think nor have stated that Fiat is having difficulty selling options on the 500.

O.K, so maybe I should've read the whole thread before posting!

But hey, even a repost has got to be better than the pointless argument you two are having about who said what, what they may or may not have actually meant by it, and the completely off-topic subject of how much factory-fitted options cost and whether they are good value for money or not!

Thread title is "Abarth 500 UK Sale date" so yep, off-topic. Check again.

Yep, I'm sure :D

I didn't say you did!!!!!!!! In fact I stated above that I didn't say you were. If anyone's hard of hearing it's you :)

Just for the benefit of everyone on this thread! Stop accusing me of being a mass murderer! I'm not a mass murderer!

I didn't say they weren't good value for money as that's a very personal thing :) £100 for painted calipers is a ripoff to me but might be great value for someone else. I was merely talking about profit margins :)
