Hi all Linda got her 1.2 lounge today, pouring down with rain, typical. It's cha cha cha azure with multispokes and I have to say it looks superb I checked it over for marks couldn't see anything but will check again in better weather hopefully tomorrow. I didn't drive it but it feels rock solid on the road and it felt so nippy much quicker than I thought it would be, the whole thing feels so solid and well built, she drove 35 miles in it, I know it's not that far but the weather was awful, after driving her auto smart she was trying to get used to driving a manual :) I will post some pics this week when I get chance, that interior with ivory and cha cha is so retro. One question can anyone help, we ordered ESP but I can't see an ESP button anywhere in the car, there is a button that says ASR on it, how do we tell it's definitely on the car, or is it the ASR? I ask because i have a golf with it and my ESP button is there to see! That car from any angle is just so cute to look at :)

ASR, that's it Anti Slip Regulator or something like that.

great stuff, hope you love it, cant wait to get mine. :DGotta say im a bit nervous about using gears again, i have a smart roadster at the mo and have had smart cars for the past 7 years. PICS PICS PICS....

That's odd, ASR is anti-slip regulation and just limits wheel spin. ESP limits wheel spin but also keeps you on track if you need to make sudden, high-speed avoidance manoeuvers. Basically ESP is able to brake individual wheels to prevent the car from spinning. Could save your life one day.

The Fiat Specs don't mention ASR, only ESP (which is all about safety and a far more complex system than ASR) as an option. Looks like you possibly have ESP but the wrong button is fitted labelled ASR

can't disable the ESP, best to look under the bonnet and you will see the bosch esp pump if you want to confirm or drive round a corner too quick for it to kick in;)

nebrog23 where abouts under the bonnet is the bosch ESP pump? I just looked and I can see a silver thing that says Bosch ESP so I take it that is it then!

On second thoughts, the ESP probably incorporates ASR and Fiat have decided that the ASR part is the only bit you can disable so that's why the button is labelled so. Makes sense really

Is there an ESP light or a graphic of a car with wavy skidmarks behind it on the dash when you first turn it on?

Vic

An ESP button does not exist elements of ESP can be deactivated by the ASR button but residual effects remain for safety reasons according to FIAT.

I wish people wouldn't post speclative comments without checking the facts and consequently alarming people.

Agreed. All the 1.4s with standard ESP that I have seen have the ASR button on the climate control panel.

Oh yes and a post that implies that "oh yes ASR, that's ESP" is most helpful to the original poster!!!

Perhaps Fiat need to explain things like this a little better on their Website.

Not sure because our 500 doesn't have it but my punto does, sounds like you have found it. It has quite a few brake pipes coming out of it!!
You can disable ASR if it's icy/muddy or snow so you don't just lose all power once the wheel slips slightly.

Anyone who knows anything about the system knows you were talking cr*p Just admit you were wrong and move on.

:worship:I bow down to your superior knowledge of everything Fiat oh great one:worship:

Andy, sincere apologies if I scared you unduly, thank heaven's it's a Sunday afternoon preventing you running down to the dealers straight away.

To anyone else picking up on this thread in the future, see, it all worked out ok in the end!

Now I'd better not try and just be a little help to someone again and forget the idea that Internet Forums are a place for the exchange of ideas and information :bang::bang::bang:

Nuovapanda she is well made up, she was worried about driving a new car with gears after having the auto smart for over 4 years but she drove it really well. I can't wait to take it on wednesday when I play football, it will be dark on the way back so I can judge the headlights which I am sure will be more than fine, especially after the smarts dipped beams  It's always easier to judge how a car feels and goes etc when you drive it yourself but I was a passenger in it today and I was so impressed by the feel of it, it felt so solid and planted unlike the smart :D but most of all it had zero miles on the clock and I couldn't believe how willing and nippy that 1.2 feels it really shocked me, and it has still to loosen up she was hitting 85mph and didn't realise it :) I will get some pictures this week. Have you still not got a build date for yours yet? Vic20 you didn't worry me at all, thanks for your imput, as you say forums are exchanging ideas and information and that's all you did (y)
